Z7 Extreme..Great Bow!

Recommended Posts

I just shot the Z7 Extreme, the Z7, and the Z7 Magnum next to each other. I went back and forth for over an hour shooting each of them until I could make a good decision on which bow I wanted.

Z7: At 321 IBO, and 31" long it seemed like this would be the bow for me. After shooting it for a while I thought it felt better in the hands and lighter then the Z7 Magnum. It had a very smooth draw and a noticeably lighter weight than the Z7 Magnum. The string sat against my face slightly better than the Magnum as well.

Z7 Magnum: With an IBO of 340, and length of 32". This bow felt like the heaviest out of the three bows to me, and I could easily notice the weight. It was also the longest of the three bows and most expensive at around 989.00. It had a smooth draw and shot fast, but the string felt like it sat against my face too much. Also the bow felt long when I was shooting it, almost too straight up and down for me. It was a great bow though, but for the price, weight and length I thought the Z7 was a better shooting bow.

Z7 Extreme: At 330 IBO, and 28" long. This bow was very light weight, probably the lightest bow I have ever shot. The difference in weight between the extreme and magnum was huge IMO. The extreme was the easiest to draw bow I have ever pulled back! When I pulled this bow back I could hardly feel it, the draw cycle was so short and smooth even with my 30" draw. With all three of these bows being high quality, I was amazed I could feel such a difference in shooting comfort with the extreme compared to the Z7 and Z7 Magnum. Overall all three bows were great, but I had to take home the Z7 Extreme! If your looking for a smooth shooting bow that's a bit shorter this bow will do it for you, it is just Awesome!!!

Thanks for the review. I have been looking to get one of the three myself. I hope the magnum is a shooter for me because I like the extra speed.

Here's a pic of my set up for this year's elk hunt! The arrows hang a bit below the cam on the Z7 extreme being that I have a longer draw at 30".

Thanks for the review. I've have been eye balling them as well, online though, since I am currently deployed. I keep hinting to the wife that the Z7 Extreme would be a great surprise to find in my case when I get home!!! I am shooting a Switchback XT right now, which is a great bow and has helped me take a number of animals, but I think its time for a new toy!

I just shot the Z7 last week and it is a sweet bow. Being left handed I don't get to shoot a very big selection of bows when I go to the shops. I was able to shoot a couple other bows including the Hoyt CRX32 and the Hoyt Rampage XT. Out of the three bows the Z7 shot the best and the two Hoyt bows were neck and neck right behind. But in the end I could not justify the $260 extra for the Z7 and went with the Rampage XT. I haven't upgraded in about 10 years and was amazed at the advancements in the bows. They are all so quiet, fast and easy to shoot. I can't wait to start shooting all the time now.
