So I was wondering who has used any of the following blinds, decoys, etc to harvest or hunt pronghorn? #1. the Zebu cow link #2. The Ghost mirror blind link #3. Coach Report post Posted April 6, 2011 These may look silly, but I've heard they work. http://bethedecoy.com/ Now, I sure wouldn't use one during a rifle season. Last year I was with a buddy who was archery hunting antelope in NM, and we used a variety of decoys to hide behind and try to approach, and never got very close using that tactic. Santana Outdoors Report post Posted April 6, 2011 I personally like the Montana decoy but I am going to try the Be the decoy next time I get drawn. I think the Ghost blind is an awesome product, and we are going to try it this year on our elk hunt. But had the Montana decoy work on us getting multiple antelopes, using it is all about looking for the right opportunity. Good luck.
BML Report post Posted April 6, 2011 I used a similar version of the zebu decoy when I killed my antelope a few years ago on the archery hunt. I know a couple guys that have used the zebu successfully. I'm trying to talk my brother into using the ghost blind this year. It really looks like an awesome product. I also have a similar product to the montana decoy. Biggest problem I have with mine is the wind. It's very hard to keep steady in the wind. I've been able to hold bucks with it while I snuck in, but never been able to actually get one to come to the decoy. Biggest tip I can give is when to actually show the decoy. If you get into a group with a really rutted up buck you don't need to show it right away. Make sure all the does are looking the opposite direction and then throw it up. The buck will see it and if he's fighting mad, he will come in charging hard. I've never really had that opportunity in AZ, but in WY the hunt is timed just right with the rut. I couldn't believe how many bucks came running at the decoy. Only problem was, they would run so dang fast I could never get a shot off with my bow!! haha
Millhouse Report post Posted April 7, 2011 I used a couple Montana Decoy's last year on my archery hunt. They worked like a charm. However, when using it in a different unit a few years earlier, it only seemed to make all the antelope run the other way. The biggest reason for the difference, in my mind, was knowing when and how to use it. Trying to set up between a buck and his does is best. I used a buck decoy in combo with a doe, and just the doe by herself. Both worked great in different situations. Can be a pain getting them into the ground in a hurry. On a side note, a buddy let me borrow his Montana cow decoy. I think I liked the Zebu better because it has the slits in it to prevent it from acting like a wind sail in your hands.
