Red Rabbit Report post Posted April 4, 2011 The weekend plans were set after a friend mentioned the first balloon festival at Monument Valley. What a graeat setting for colorful balloons against the sandstone walls. I headed north Thursday afternoon to catch the Mitten Shadow and then the hot air balloons for the rest of the weekend. A few balloons launched Friday morning. Saturday morning brought great conditions for the balloonists with clear skies, very light breezes and plenty of steerage in the layers. However, the winds kicked in with gusto Saturday afternoon and never relented, so the Saturday night glow and Sunday morning launch never materialized.
