Sonoran Game Outfitters Report post Posted December 19, 2005 Unit 33 has a good population. Try the Reddington Pass area but be prepared to get off the roads and hike back in past the other hunters. Get high and glass. All of 33 is full of bucks in the 85 to 90 inch class with several over 100" that I have seen in the past few years.
reddog Report post Posted December 19, 2005 Okay, I can?t carry a firearm to hunt any other legal species if I am in a possession of an archery only non permit tag for Dec.16, 2005 through Jan. 31st, 2006 archery-only season when I am hunting for deer. That is what I am reading in the R12-4-318 C2 regulation book. All I can say is stupid! I can?t even use my general hunting license to its fullest. That?s like saying ?you can only fish with one fishing pole at a time when you have purchased a two pole stamp?. I am not going to spend all that money on my bow setup to use a handgun to shoot a deer, other wise I would not be bow hunting. Get a clue AGF, if I can get close enough to shoot a deer with my pistol, surely I can hit it with my bow and arrow! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> [/quote AZoutdoorman, I don't think the law was put into place with law abiding hunters in mind, it is for the people who would shot the deer with their handgun. I assume you are one of the hunters who would never even think of pulling out the "9" to shoot a deer that you have just stalked, but for every 10 or 20 or 100 of us there is one who would. Rember the G&F dept, in this case, is tring to protect the game and ethical hunters from unethical hunters, and not the hunters from other people. One more question why are you not complaing about being having to buy a trout stamp? The trout stamp keeps you from using your fishing license to "fullest" Not trying to be jerk but you have to look at both sides of the story. REDDOG
gnoto Report post Posted December 20, 2005 can't say I ahve ever been questioned by the BP or Fish and Game or anybody except when I did not have it on. Wear it and hope you do not need to use it. I would say 33 is a better bet but the truth is hunting is dangerous regardless fo who is out there. As for the bow thing I must admit I am darn good "Try to shoot through the neck of a 2 or 3 litre bottle with your uncle breathing down your neck" Even with that confidence what would you do if you encountered a lion in position to have a taste of you or the piggy you are trailing or the coues you just shot. I belive I am going for the .41 mag on my hip. I guess we each decide what to do. Stop by a camp or two they will be glad to have you stay with them. I have never been turned down.
