CouesWhitetail Report post Posted March 19, 2011 Some of you might remember this very cool white red-tailed hawk I posted pictures of last year. This is a highly unsual color for this hawk. It had a regular redtail as its mate and they nested not very far from my house. I have enjoyed seeing it periodically throughout the year and was eagerly waiting to see if it would nest in the same tree as last year, but I just got a call from AGFD saying someone shot this hawk and they are seeking information about the shooting. If you have information about this illegal shooting, please contact the Operation Game Thief hotline (800-352-0700). There will likely be a reward. If you call in, you can keep your name confidential if you wish. If you know something about this crime, please report it. here are some photos of the hawk that I took last year and some a friend (Jim Burns) took. It was a gorgeous bird. Pine Donkey Report post Posted March 19, 2011 What a shame, and a waste of a beautiful bird. G and F should offer a reward, if not maybe CWT could raise funds to offer one. I will send in the first $25.00 if you offer one.

It's things like this that just makes me get so upset and mad. I wish I knew what it is that makes people do such a senseless act. I hope whoever committed this shamefull act gets caught. CouesWhitetail Report post Posted March 19, 2011 AGFD is offering a $500 reward for information leading to the arrest of the person(s) responsible. I appreciate those of you that have offered to pitch in money for a reward...looks like we don't need to do that, but I really appreciate the thought. BikerRN Report post Posted March 19, 2011 That was a majestic bird that deserved better. I fail to see what purpose killing it served, outside of inflating the ego of some already narcissistic individual. Biker

.270 Report post Posted March 19, 2011 better question is why are idiots considered people? there are a few things that there is no reason to shoot. birds of prey are one of them. even if it was legal, there isn't any reason to shoot one. like whales and elephants and rhinos and swans and stuff like that. why shoot one? when they're dead, they're just dead. if they do catch whatever @$$hole shot it, he can kiss a buncha money good by and plan on spending some time in the pokey. they are pretty rough on guys who shoot hawks and eagles. Girls Shoot Better Report post Posted March 26, 2011 I enjoy taking pictures of wildlife and sharing them. Its so cool to do that but it really makes me mad when people have to go farther than the pictures and poach the animal. That is part of the reason why I want go into the azgf and become game manger because when I catch people poaching, I will never give them mercy. Amanda that bird is so beautiful that I really hope they do find that idiot. I am really sorry that happened.
