CouesWhitetail Report post Posted March 20, 2011 The banquet was a great success! Thanks to everyone that purchased tickets and spent money at the auctions! It is so great to see sportsmen and women having a great time and raising money for wildlife! For those wondering, the special commissioner's elk tag sold for $95,000. It was a fun night...saw loads of Coueswhitetail.com members there. Several members were working the banquet...Christian, Coueschaser3, Butters, mjmhunter, bonusptjohn, Mr. Jonathan, Matt Mullins, 125coues and mrs125coues and probably more that I am not thinking of. Thanks to those who volunteer at this banquet! You guys do an awesome job! Other members I saw at the banquet include: MatthewP, Tomgobbler, Chef, Arizona Griz, Pete, Extreme Coues and his family, Elkster9, Double Buck Taxidermy, willhunt4coues, BearMtn, and again probably more I am not thinking of at the moment....Anyway, it's great to see so many familiar faces and it was great to meet several new ones. Thanks to everyone who took the time to say hello. Hope you all had a great time.
matthewp45 Report post Posted March 21, 2011 Thanks again Amanda for gracing us with your presence at our table. We had such a great time and plan on getting another table next year so you and Chef are invited to come sit our table any time. I could not believe how lucky I was last night. I was just sitting there and they had a 25-06 come up and some lucky patron won it and then next up was a glossy red 10lb fire extenguisher. The i hear my name being called and I could not believe my ears. My very own fire extinguisher. I was so excited that I did not even hear the name of the guy who won the 300 weatherby that was the next prize. I am just joking it is not about the winning I sure was glad to go help support a great organization and help raise money to help protect and preserve our elk herd and the other animals they help out as well. It was great meeting you Chef and Terry as well. I enjoyed visiting with you guys very much and can't wait until the next time. Thanks again everyone for there participation. The last thing was that is was azcouesandelks last night in Arizona. He left this morning to go back east and finish up some more school and work at basspro out there. I told his parents I give it 2 years and our buddy will be back where he belongs. Keep him in your prayers while he is getting to his final destination. Thanks again
Chef Report post Posted March 21, 2011 Yes it was another grand time. good money raised for wildlife and Matt, CONGRATS ON THE FIRE EXTINGUISHER! Nice to finally meet you. I finally got to meet Stan (AZ402) and his lovely wife as well. Our table won a rifle and we all had a great time. I met Bill's (elkster9) wife and saw a lot of old friends as well. Can't wait for the next one and yeah, we're gonna miss you Christian!
CouesWhitetail Report post Posted March 21, 2011 Thanks Matthew for your generosity and it was great sitting at your table...you are the best here are some pics from the night: honor guard bringing the flags in. All these marines had served in Afghanistan or Iraq...and they had a very moving story about the flag, which was auctioned off later that night. christian and coueschaser3 working... Matthew and his lovely wife

CouesWhitetail Report post Posted March 22, 2011 ya we had no luck, we spent alot of money for the elk, so it was worth it, i hope the food at your table was better than ours........ I am sorry to say the food was no better......it was definitely the major weakness in the banquet...I let some of the volunteers that were working the banquet know about it...they said they would pass that info along in the banquet wrap-up meeting so that doesn't happen again
AzHuntingAddict Report post Posted March 22, 2011 Yeah, I would agree that the dinner was not so good, and giving us butter knifes to cut that slice of leather. The marines story was very moving for me as I have family serving. The part about moving from the back of the line to the front to land because of the given call sign really hit home to me. It was a pleasure to shake the hands of these fine people. I missed the opportunity to say hello to the members here who attended, as it felt kinda like an online dating deal where you meet for the first time. My apology.
