Got a ticket from G&F

or officer hartzell could have said, you're in the wrong unit, remind him of what truly sounds like an honest mistake, tell him don't do it again and both go away from it better for it. pretty obvious coach didn't intend to break the law. say whatever you want about the "law". things like this don't do anyone any good. i've had treehuggers screw up hunts in 27 before, which is against the law, and reported it and just had the wardens say they couldn't do anything. there have also been numerous cases of kids involved in "serial" poaching in the same areas, getting caught, and getting off with next to nothing. i don't see where officer hartzell was being anything other than badge happy here. my opinion. One point I want to make about this whole situation it is this:

I truly respect our G&F officers and appreciate the difficult job they do. More importantly, it is critical for hunters and G&F to have a postive, trusting relationship. We need to feel like we're on the "same team". This requires that sometimes we as hunters need to cut a little slack to the officers and to G&F as a whole. And while I despise poachers and intentional breaking of game laws, I think a little descression can go a long way toward preserving and maintaining that trust-based relationship, which benefits us all.

That is a great statement Coach. G&F have my respect for the tough job they do but they really need to look in the mirror on there handling of several recent cases (Like Mr. Chappells Bull Elk) they are not helping themselves out at all!
