The idea is kinda good but a lota bad.Idont like the oct coues hunt because its only a few days now if it was 10 days it would be better.lets face it i cant get drawn for a dec hunt anyway but i still put in for it and hope for it but never get it.so an oct hunt would be better than staying home.

its a double edge sword it cuts you anyway. its how bad do you want to bleed.

DesertBull I totally agree, cutting 50% of elk tags and move them to a later hunt would definitely put the early tags into the Premium category. Those sonsabitches are trying to be sneaky. They word things so that they make it sound like they're doing us a favor and giving us more "Hunter Opportunity" when all that really means is more money for those crybabies! More tags = More money for the Dept. I F'n hate the G&F Dept. Just like the Forest Svc, they both cry about not having enough funds for this or for that when they all drive brand dang new Dodge trucks. I don't think I've ever seen an empolyee for either dept drive a vehicle that was any older than 2 years. "We're sorry but we just don't have the funds for that right now." they all say. You go into any one of their offices and there's 10-15 people pushing pencils and I'd bet a half of a % of anything they're doing is worth a dang. All those idiots do is create programs to try and figure out what caused a problem and what can they do to fix it and once those programs are created they'll never go away or they'd be out of a job. Therefore, they never get solved and BS programs continue and that's our wonderful hard earned tax dollars at work.

OK, this will make you see why I hate the AZG&F. With all the treehuggers employed by the the AZG&F there's a program, which I'm sure some of you have personally seen out in the woods, where they try to figure out what's causing the frog population, that live in and around stock tanks, to decrease. Well my personal opinion is, who cares cause those frogs weren't there untill the ranchers had them dug in the first place. But I digress. My Dad was riding his mule up in Sycamore Basin a couple winters ago, here in 6A, and he could see about a dozen AZG&F trucks parked all around the tank. He rode up to see what all the fuss was and he was told that they were looking for the frogs that used to live in the tank. They were all flusterred that they couldn't find any and were quick to blame cattle and elk for their dissappearance. Dad kinda thought for a minute and said to the guy in charge, "You know, come to think of it, I've never seen a frog in the middle of winter either." and just rode off. If some of you are slow at catching on, frogs hibernate during the winter! Those lamebrains were probably gonna stretch 12' high fencing around the tank so that the animals wouldn't hurt any of those precious frogs. Another time a few summers ago ol Redbeard hiked into a tank only to find a few G&F vehicles with tents all around. Well you or I do the same and we get ticketed for camping w/in 1/4mile of a water hole. These freakin morons were stomping around the tank trying to catch and count frogs while pretty much obliterating all the knee high grass that the frogs need to live and hide in. You'd have to hear Redbeard's story about it, he gave those idiots a serious piece of his mind that day. I've seen a few spots in 8 and 7M where those freakin idiots have fenced off a freakin acre around stock tanks or other riparian areas so that a flippin frog won't get stepped on.

OK OK, I'm gonna go take a breather now and go beat up the wife.... I mean punching bag!

Josh, You are completley right on the entire thing! And its only going to get worse! Like i said on my post, the DEPT has enough money, they just dont know how to spend it! WHERE IN THE heck do they spend all the money they make on 200,000 $5.00 app fees and the other millions they make on the rest of the tags.....and the other millions they make on the hunting/fishing lisc. AND NOW ALL THEY want is more more more more more more!!! It BS and they have to be stopped! THE Vehicle thing is definetley out of hand as well!!!! HAVE U EVER SEEN HOW MANY BRAND NEW TAHOES AND SUBURBANS THEY HAVE AS WELL>>>>>>THAT THEY USE TO RUN AROUND IN FROM OFFICE TO OFFICE(meeting)>IT ABSURD! And then they complain about the gas prices as well, but theyre the ones driving a 10mpg SUV with one person in to a meeting!!!!!!!!!! The Game and Fish stopped managing our wildlife, and our only taking our money!!!

It appears there is waste at AGFD but the frog thing is just classic.

I have not had the first hand examples to share so I have kept my opinions more quiet than not. Folks like Josh give first had accounts of situations like these and it leaves little doubt.

Are we better off WITH the AGFD or WITHOUT them? Most of us would say WITH them, however we would all probably have at least some changes related to expense control.

As a Psuedo government agency, lately they seem to have adopted the policy of throwing money at every problem. Government agencies do "estimate" costs, but controlling them is another issue.. When was the last time you heard of a govenment plan or bond proposal getting cancelled due to cost over-runs? It just does not happen. Govenment agencies are rewarded with more money when they cannot meet their budgets. New trucks every 3 years instead of 1-2 years?

Directors and personnel not in NEED of a SUV for Field use should get an economy car and pay for personal use. These cars are Perks in most cases and not necessity.

AGFD, be advised, the scrutiny is heading your way. It would be nice to see a problem fixed without "throw money at it" being the first answer.

Yes thats very true, they could do the things they wanted, but the problem is they dont truly care! Of course there are alot of Dept. officials that do care and would do some good, but the dont have a say in anything what so ever! The guys that make the rules and put the money where it goes, could give a rats a**! They may even hunt them selves(SOME OF THEM) but not many! I have kept my mouth shut for quite some time, but i have seen all this boiling over now for some time, and its not to late! We need to get a group together and put a stop to them! It would take time, and some money, BUT I KNOW ALOT OF PEOPLE in and out of state that would be up for it, and there are alot more people that feel this way, but dont have direction!

300 very true points! thanks! I was afraid to say anything about the NR issue being reversed bc most people believe it was all the Dept's doing, and dont even know the TRUTH! If they had not heard REID, they would have gave up and told us all they did not have enough money to do something aobut it! it is so sad that alot of ARIZONA sportsmen are so impressed with the AZGF! but the things that go on behind closed doors...is truly incredible!!!

josh, 300 wsm, megahunter, ect..... are all correct in their complaints about the game and fish.  I am sick and tired of the cry babies here in this state whining about hunting opportunity.  They want more this and more that, meantime the deer and elk heards want a dang break.  Seems like the people that whine about decreased opportunity are the same type idiots that are interested in increased funds for new vehicles for those lazy G and F workers that have to have brand new everything b/c they don't know how to fix anything bla bla bla.

What needs to happen is pin all these jack arses in two or three units and give them over the counter tags so they can have their opportunity every year to kill bambie, take their bonus point when they buy their tag, and let them fight over the last buck/bull on the mountain.  Before long they will be on a camping trip rather then a hunting trip and the game and fish will be happy b/c these idiots will still pay money every yr. to hunt.  Don't rotate the units, just let these "hunters" manage their own unit and see how far it takes them.

sdr THATS ALREADY ALMOST HAPPENING!!! lol!!!!!!!! WELL ITS GETTING BAD! ESPECIALLY SINCE AZ ONLY HAS AN ESTIMATED DEER HERD OF ABOUT 90,000!!! THAT IS PATHETIC, ESPECIALLY COMPARED TO WHAT IT USE TO BE!!!! GOD HELP THEM!
