Azbasszone.com has a lot of good info. If you are curious about Roosevelt, listen to what Leroy Price has to say. He just started posting on here, saves me the time of checkin AZBZ for crappie reports
elkaholic Report post Posted March 7, 2011 just keep it simple - cast and retrieve instead of castin and waiting- it's mostly dragging/bouncing something (worms/jigs)along the bottom or swimming something (crankbaits-swimbaits-spinnerbaits) -thru or on top of the water - no bobbers - lol
Xman2000 Report post Posted March 8, 2011 Hey there copenhagenGDIB Bass fishing is definatly different mostly because you have to constantly be doing something to make your lure work and you can spend a life time learing all the new trends that are out there .But once you get a Bass to nail what you have on the end of your line for me anyways it was a game changer I was instantly hooked.Bass for the most part have the attitude I am the badest fish in this lake and will try there hardest to prove that to you time and time again they hate any thing that is abnormal and will smash eractic or wierd looking things coming at them disturbing there nests ect, just to prove there the boss. Many times the bait I am throwing at them are bigger than they are it cracks me up how big there ego is .And right now is a perfect time to learn how to catch Bass its like the rutting seasons for coues there getting there nest ready and guard them with there life once there eggs in there .Sight fishing will teach you what baits work and what ones won't beuase you can see how the Bass is going to react to your bait. Soft plastics are very effective and loseing them while you are learning wont break the bank.Alot of lures out there I think catch the buyers eye and not the fish so check forums in a local area you intend to fish and ask questions from other fishermen there before you try and buy the whole tackle shop remember learning is half the fun and there are no dumb questions to ask!once you land a lunker its hard to stop fishing for those bucket mouths! luv2fish Report post Posted March 9, 2011 copenhagenGDIB, a good way to learn is to join a local Bass Club. Since you live in Snowflake, the White Mountain Bass Club would be a good one. You can also learn a lot from a one day trip with a Guide as well. You can learn more from a good Guide in one day than in a month on your own. Also, you can gain a lot of knowledge by watching fishing shows, taking notes on what equipment they are using, under what conditions, and then trying it yourself. Also go to free seminars. The Arizona Nitro State Team gives them on a regular basis year round on the 2nd Tuesday of every month at Bass Pro Shops. They will be giving them next Sunday as well, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Bass fishing as well as Crappie fishing. The schedule is by the turn stile at the front of the store. If you go to www.aznitroteam.com you will see we are all tournament fishermen, several of whom have won championships, boats, and angler of the year titles. After my seminars I take the time to talk to people, answer their questions, and help them find any lures, tackle, etc., they may need. Also for Crappie info go to www.azcrappie.com where the Arizona Crappie Association members share their knowledge. Good luck, and keep your bait wet................LeRoy

Coach Report post Posted March 10, 2011 I'll probably be camped out at Cholla on Roosevelt the week starting the 21st for my kids' Spring Break. If any other CWT'ers are gonna be on the lake that week for bass or crappie, let's hook up.
