Xman2000 Report post Posted March 3, 2011 I finally got a chance to get out on the boat!My kids had been after me for weeks to go fishing .I have been prepping my boat for awhile now in Lew of the up coming crappie bite and my kids have helped in the process new plugs, new fuel filter ,gas line ,oil change waxing ,new transducer odds and ends .I had been promising them a quick trip to test out the boat but between life hunting trips and prior engagements it has been hard to get time to go out so Sunday was the big day no matter what I told them we would get to wet our lines. Little did we know that wasn't all that got wet on Sunday at Saguaro Lake. We woke up got our gear in the Xterra hitched the boat and stopped at QT for gas and Tonto pass.as soon as we got to the store it started raining slowly then came more rain then hail and then snow in a matter of about 15 minutes .My wife looked at me and I shrugged my shoulders and asked the kids if they still wanted to go fishing my oldest son looked over to wards Saguaro and said over there its Sunny lets go Dad my youngest chimed in and said ya Dad. I cracked up and said cool my die hards kids are up for it so through the sleet at this point we drove till we got to the lake everything cleared up except for the wind .We launched our boat around 10:30AM and cranked up the motor after a bit she kicked in and we waited for my Wife to park and get in .The lake was some what calm maybe 3 other boats on the lake at this time once we got the Nitro burning around the main part of the lake for awhile getting the old gas out. We fished the marina butcher Jones and other choice coves finally all the way back to the Canyon Dam with nothing to show but cold hands and crab grass. This was our pattern the whole time we were out all the fish on the finders were at least 30 plus feet that front really pushed them deep.Did spooning deep cranks ,drop shot slow Rollin spinners and rattle traps but just hauled water all day my kids used worms trying to get some gills to bite but nothing turned up talked to at least 6 other boats and it was the same goose egg for every one .It was nice to finally get out on the water and spend some time with my die hards and wife there was awesome scenery from mountains .The goods news is the boat is running like a top and it was a great test plus The back drops of mountains that had got snow cover still a little Chile but a great day to enjoy my kids my wife Gods creations and of course a fine cigar Here are some pics of the moutains and my Die hards fisher men on Saguaro

I've had some good days when the bass were deep using this set up. Takes a while for the big worm to get down there, but the bass will hit 'em. Guy from lake Powell turned me on to this. tjhunt2 Report post Posted March 3, 2011 Looks like it was a cold one but rewarding that the boat ran good and the kids had a blast even not catching fish. Thanks for sharing. TJ
