wackycouesaddict Report post Posted February 10, 2011 The first leg of the triple crown is coming up the 26th and 27th. It is put on by the ABA on of th big clubs for archers in the state they have an ear with game and fish and this year even helped with there junior pig camp in the Prescott area. I know some people have issues with the way they work but the only way to improve it is to help and they are starting in a new direction now. this shoot is going to be put on out at usery park. so whether you want to get involved or just come out and shoot every one who could possibly be there should be. If your just starting there are many experienced and great archers there and most would be willing to help you with questions and help you get started in the amazing sport of 3-d shooting. heres the adress for information on the shoot http://www.arizonabowhunters.org/1TripleCrn.html . i know there is another thread with a link as well and bownut will probably chime in to. wackycouesaddict Report post Posted February 11, 2011 no i just know of a few (not pointing fingers at anyone and the ones i know arent even members on here) that have stopped coming to the ABA shoots and figure there be somemore because of there lack of comunications and time keeping ablities. i personaly dont blame people for not going for those reasons its really agrivating but like i said they are starting to get better. also you are right all shoots not just this one are fun and a great way to get kids involved in archery and have a good time. bowhunter4life Report post Posted February 11, 2011 Good post, Just a short few years ago, ABA spend alot of money and hundreds of volunteer hours to save our September bull hunts, you may remember a questionare they sent asking about your experiance. They spoke and gave the facts to the G&F commish. when the vote was coming down to move 1/2 of the Sept. tags to nov, they fought tooth and nail with only 25 bull tags going to all units for nov. hunts. They also were there to protect our archery deer tags from all going to a draw, luckly only a few did and some have returned to over the counter. This past year they went back and asked G & F for some archery spring turkey hunts. If you look in the regs. we know have over the counter archery spring turkey opportunities. There are alway isssues with shoots and personalities, but without the ABA we have no archery voice in AZ! Just remember to have fun at these shoots becouse someday we may not have one. BowNut Report post Posted February 19, 2011 Thanks Tyler A lot of us forget that the ABA is not a "3D ARCHERY CLUB". Even me sometimes. They do a great job as a voice for bowhunting in AZ get very little credit for it. I think the 3D end of it has gotten better and will continue to. We can see it at the first leg with a record turn out last year and this year is on track to be the same. I also here the complaints I'm not shooting cuz of this rule or this person does not know what they are doing so I'm not shooting anymore. My only comment to that is jump in get your feet wet! We always need the help and what better way to voice your opinion on how you think it should work then to jump in and do it yourself. In the end it is the support for the ABA and Bowhunting in AZ.
