HaYen Report post Posted February 9, 2011 Asked a local smith (name withheld) to drill and tap the receiver of my Mauser; mount a set of bases and rings; and finally the scope. The quote came in at a little over $600 dollars. They said they would have to mill down the stripper clip hump and re-blue the rifle. I got quotes from other smiths in other states that ranged from $90 to $150. Its over at another local smith.

HaYen Report post Posted February 10, 2011 LOL. That's funny. The second smith said he knew the first smith. He asked me who the smith was when I told him the price. All he could do was shake his head in disbelief. The second smith said he could probably get the rifle done by the 18th, but I wouldn't have any time to develop a load and practice. So for this Javilina hunt it will be the trusty 22-250.
