tjhunt2 Report post Posted February 8, 2011 I will be leaving Mesa heading for Three Points, Az thursday morning on my way to help Amanda with her hunting camp. I will be pulling a 5th wheel. Map quest tells me to take the Marana Exit and travel south on Sandario Rd to the Ajo Hwy 89 then right to Tree Points. My question to you all is: Would I be better off to stay on the instate 10 until I get to the Ajo Hwy 89 exit, in Tucson, instead? My next question is how would the traffic be at that time in the morning on the interstate 10 in Tucson? Information appreciated!

huntingfool Report post Posted February 8, 2011 +1, I would take the I-10 to Ajo myself. Gotta be faster, traffic should be moving.
gotcoues Report post Posted February 8, 2011 Take I-10 to I-19 then off at Ajo. Traffic will only be slow from Ruthrauff to Congress (just a few plus miles) and only at 730 to 9. Traffic still flows fine, nothing like Phoenix.
My Rights As An American Report post Posted February 8, 2011 I disagree. I tow a trailer through there every year multiple times. Get off at Avra Valley Road, turn right. Go to Sandario Road and turn left (at the airport and you can only go left). Take that to Ajo Road (AZ 186). About 8 miles to Three Points. Shaves off at least 30 minutes, no need to fight any drivers or merging of highways. Skip Tucson altogether. I lived down there for many years, and now live in Mesa. I would never go through Tucson again with this route.

azpackhorse Report post Posted February 8, 2011 With the interstate being done now, I-10 to I-19 then to Ajo is definately the quickest/best way to go, especially if you are towing a 5th wheel. Depending on what time you come through Sandario Rd it could be slow, the High School is right off Sandario and they have decreased the speed limit all the way until you hit the Monument. I live in Avra Valley and I can hit the Interstate and make it to 3 pnts in about the same time as going Sandario Rd (if I obey the speed limit) Trust me on this one, I've lived out here 26 years and have made the trip hundreds upon hundreds of times. Good luck this weekend.
