catclaw Report post Posted February 1, 2011 We are up to 11 pinned topics there is almost no room for regular topics anymore. Do these all really need to be pinned? Let's streamline again and get back to more current stuff on the first page. What do you all think?
Rag Horn Report post Posted February 1, 2011 I think the information that has been “pinned” is valuable and worthwhile. I would hate to see it get buried. However I do agree with you there ought to be more room for current stuff. Maybe there should be a “pinned” topic. It would be like all the rest the mule deer, elk hunting, shed hunting, and predator hunting sections. Just a thought, I mean it was pinned for a reason and I have benefited from the info being close and not buried.
Outdoor Writer Report post Posted February 1, 2011 Go to your "My Controls" setting and look for the "Board Settings" under it. There, you can increase the number of topics shown per page. I have mine set at 30 topics and 30 messages.
Lv2hnt Report post Posted February 2, 2011 Great help. Tony ...
CouesWhitetail Report post Posted February 2, 2011 Thanks for the help Tony. Even better yet is to use the view new posts feature so you never have to click on subforums to see what is new. View new posts is a text link in the upper right of the forum.

If it's so important, why are there 3 or 4 of the topics that haven't been added too in 4 months? Sure, I can change the number of threads that i can see, but I can still only see so many on one page, when the pinned topics, that nobody uses, take up more space than the ACTIVE topics it just bothers me. People like to see dynamic things- log on, take a quick peak at what's new and go on.

C'mon Dennis, Even I found the new topics button a year or so back and you're alot more computer savvy than I am! BTW, I don't want to hear anything else about passing up big muleys! Go and shoot a pig now! take care, Schmitty

Coach Report post Posted February 3, 2011 "People like to see dynamic things- log on, take a quick peak at what's new and go on. " Exactly what the "View New Posts" feature does, as Amanda suggested. Give it a try.
CouesWhitetail Report post Posted February 3, 2011 The view new posts feature is the perfect solution...when you click on it you will get a showing of all topics that have had new posts added to them since your last visit. Then you can quickly scroll down to see all active threads and choose which ones you want to read. The point of pinning topics is to keep some topics of interest easier to find even when they are not currently active. Otherwise they would get lost. I will review the pinned topics and see what could go. Use view new post to quickly see active discussions and look at pinned topics to see some of the older topics that might be of interest. There is no need to click on eash subforum to view new posts.
huntswnm Report post Posted February 4, 2011 Well because of this post I have found some cool pinned topics that I didn't even know was there. I ALWAYS click on the 'new post' button so only look at updated posts, some of the pinned topics that are very informational, yet rarely updated, I didn't realize (or forgot) they were there. jeff
catclaw Report post Posted February 5, 2011 I use that new topic button sometimes, but I prefer to see what's new only in the areas that I might be interested in. Might be better to have a section just for "important stuff" so if someone wants to go back and review stuff they can. I guess when you pinned Gino's rant it really turned me off.
