Shiras Report post Posted November 20, 2005 Fellas I want you to know that I actually do know that this is for coues deer, but since I struck on on a tag this year in NM and AZ I just had to share my opening day success story and pics here in northeast Oklahoma. (I'm emailing Amanda the pics) My friend connected at 20 feet this morning on a nice 5x5 (yes 20 FEET) Small but very gnarly bases. Then tonight we went out on his grandads 81 acre farm and sat on a right of way that in 2 years will have a highway running through it. Drew (my buddy) was glassing a far field, and I was watching a closer opening. When there was about 10 minutes shooting light left we decided to get up and start making our way to the truck in hopes of finding a buck in different field. I got up first, started walking, turned around and there he was 235 yards in the field Drew was glassing. I dropped down and used my fold out seat as a rest and 1 shot broke his front leg and clipped both lungs. He went down about 40 yards from the shot. At our surprise he had no eyeguards but good length on beams. To say the least, I am very stoked. I thank the Lord (and have been all night long) for such a wonderful outing with a great friend. Harvesting 2 fantastic animals, and enjoying time away from the pressures of work and life in general. This really is the season of Thanksgiving. Thank you Lord!!!! -Shiras
