How early.....is too late?

Recommended Posts

This last elk season, a group of us were drawn for unit 22North rifle hunt in late november and there seemed to be a differing opinion on when we needed to be out to our hunting spot, set up, ready to glass the area in hopes to see some signs of bulls. I like to sit high on a hill and glass valleys and other hillsides and then set up a plan to move in closer for the shot. So I wanted to get a poll and a few expert opinions on how early every gets out to they're hunting spot?

Before shooting light UNLESS it requires me to go stompin through a bunch of country that holds critters. Some spots I start glassin from the road, then continue on to the next spot, after I glass what I'll have to walk through.

I agree with youngbuck. We head in at shooting light to a few of my areas in 22n because we have to travel right through a night time feeding area and there is always a chance one might be a little late getting to his core area for the day. If you are in country that elk don't use I set up at least 30 minutes before light so I'm ready.
