swaros question

Recommended Posts

Have a question about the binoculars, there are Swaros SLC 15x56, this morning first thing when i started glassing the part where you look from got condensation, was it because my eyes where to close to the lenses? or maybe i should have the check? it was frustrating because i glass for a bit the had to get off for a few minutes, what do you guys do when is very cold? could be the body heat?

Thank you.

Usually body heat. It helps to wipe your forehead off and keep your hat off. If it's too cold to keep the hat off, just turn it around so the bill doesn't keep the heat from rising away. This helps me, anyway.

Thanks guys also bought those field optics caps that blocks the light from the sides and wonder if that has anything to do because the heat stays in.

It's from your heat coming from your eyes.

If you glass in cold (freezing) weather, you'll have the condensation freeze (frost over) as well.

Really ticks me off as I constantly have to wipe the lenses.

My swaros do this too. It's pretty annoying when you can only look for a few second before the eyepiece fogs up. I got some anti fog stuff that seems to help now.

I have noticed this with all brands of Binos.

If you leave your binos in your truck on a cold morning They are going to fog up on you.

If I am hiking to a place I tuck them into my jacket before using and that warms them enough they wont fog. (for a bit)

Try inhaling through your mouth and exhaling through your nose. (your breath fogs them also)

Yes this happens with all brands. It has nothing to do with Swarovski. Under the jacket helps as stated above. On the dash of your vehicle with the defrost heater going. When hunting the backcountry, I put them in my sleeping bag with me a couple of hours before it is time to get up. Once I get up the stay on my body under my coat.

Yes it is a pain. No there is no bullet proof way to deal with it.

This may sound crazy but I had the same problem and layed one of those hand warmers on top of Bino's and never had another problem.

Now that is thinking outside the box! I will be employing this tactic next season!
