Dodger Report post Posted December 17, 2003 I was wondering if anyone might be able to help me out. I drew a 34A (37A and 37M) archery javelina tag for January and I am planning on doing some coues hunting at the same time. Can anyone point me into the direction of some areas that hold both species in the northern part of the unit. I was planning on concentrating on the Fagan Peak area. I would like to stay closer to Tucson since I live there and because of work I'm restricted to weekends for hunting. Plus, I don't feel real comfortable hunting close to the border. I spent one weekend looking over my shoulder in 35A in August looking for illegals and drug smugglers. Thanks Matt
Guest tom Report post Posted December 26, 2003 Dodger, I live and hunt in this unit (34a). I have seen a lot of pigs this year. Most were west of Hwy 83 near milepost 49 and 50. But if your trying to get away from the illegal aliens and drug smugglers you may as well hunt in another state or at least get north of I-10 because there is plenty of illegal traffic going through this area. Good Luck! Tom

Guest Ernesto C Report post Posted December 28, 2003 Gentlememen, this is a topic I often hear "illegals" and I'm no body to talk about that and this is not the place to do it. But I have a suggestion: If we are going to be worry about those people in those units, why apply there?? Why not apply for units where those guys are less likely to be? If I have a javelina, deer or some other tag I'm not going to waste MY HUNTING TIME looking over my shoulder;I'm going to hunt. Those"guys" they always hide or run away from you anyway. But like I said is only an opinion and a suggestion. I wish I can help you with some info. from 34A Dodger but I'm not familiar with that unit. God bless you all and have a happy new year. Dodger Report post Posted December 30, 2003 Ernesto, I put in for this hunt because it is joined with 37A and 37M and figured that I might be able to try for coues at the same time in 34A. After going down and looking around a little bit, it looks like I will be spending most of my pig hunt in 37A and hunting for whitetail in other units that I'm more familar with. I usually hunt 32 for whitetail, but I have only seen 3 javelinas there (at night and on private property) and it is a 3 1/2 hour drive to where I hunt and I don't see myself having that kinda of time in January for a javelina hunt. I have tried 33 but it seems like I can't get away from the hikers, horseback riders, etc. so I tried somewhere new that's close to home. My nervousness for the drug smugglers comes from experience. A friend of mine was held up at gun point by two guys carrying machine guns down in 36A. Thanks for help though Matt
