cmc Report post Posted December 15, 2010 So how can one be a Cardinals fan since there isn't a school to graduate from? I'm sure glad I can take solace in being a Michigan fan. I do root for the U of A since my wife has a masters from there.
cmc Report post Posted December 15, 2010 Unfortunately I think a lot of support gets lost to other pro teams. Now that's funny.....
desertdog Report post Posted December 15, 2010 Dog - Phx is not a college town. Tempe is a college town but ASU competes with a lot of other venues for leisure, sporting, entertainment dollars (Cards, Suns, DBacks, Yotes, etc). This is unlike NB or Tucson where the u is all people have. ASU does and continues to have a lot of opportunity. Unfortunately I think a lot of support gets lost to pro teams. I understand PHX is not a college town and how that effects support for ASU and their teams. However that should not have much barring on ASU and their football recruiting. As a matter of fact that should be a major plus for your program. Given the choice kids want to play in a city that has options for entertainment. Because of the pro sports teams and that PHX is so large it has major media coverage and no shortage of coverage for ASU athletes. Being in a large city has not hurt USC. They have brought in top talent year in year out. Albeit so of that talent was a little shady, but most is and was on the up and up. ASU should be bringing in top talent on a yearly basis and the size of the city and the pro sports teams should be a major factor why.

DesertBull Report post Posted December 15, 2010 http://msn.foxsports.com/baseball/story/NC...olations-121510 The committee noted the case is the school's ninth with major infractions, most of any NCAA member school. You'd think with that much cheatin', they'd win a little more often.

uofahughes2 Report post Posted December 16, 2010 National Championship > Rose Bowl Just sayin.... As for team support, I suppose all those assu fans were at Diamonback games... Anyone catch the article on azcentral the other day about assu "dressing" up there basketball arena? Just means 4,000 less seats for UofA fans when we play up there. How many assu football players does it take to change a light bulb? Just one, but he gets 3 credits for it.

billrquimby Report post Posted December 17, 2010 Quickly skimming this thread makes me wonder if I am the only human remaining on this planet who has absolutely no interest in running, jumping and throwing games. Bill Quimby Bill your not alone Bud BIG PLUS +2 You and I make two. It's a lonely road we're following. I remember a time in the mid-1980s when I was in South Africa during a cricket tournament against the U.K. The games went on for a couple of days and were televised on both of the country's two networks and played on every radio station. Everywhere I went people would ask if I "knew the score." It's ironic, but most of the guys who are such boring fanatics about our Super Bowl, World Series, NBA championships, and such would be just as mistified as I was over the way the South Africans were following that dumb cricket tournament. Years later, in 2007, a friend who is a honcho on the country's rugby governing board took me to two rugby games in a couple of small towns near his farm. The locals there were just as enthusiastic about rugby as Texans are about their Cowboys. I couldn't understand the rugby rules, of course, but what really leaves me wondering is how people can get so enthusiastic about watching other people running, jumping and throwing. I still don't get it. It's like watching other people catch bass or shoot turkeys on TV. Bill Quimby
