willhunt4coues Report post Posted December 11, 2010 Well it is finally here my new tack driver. It is a Howa/Hogue 20” Heavy Barrel Varminter .308. Here are all the features: All HOWA/HOGUE’S Feature: • Non-slip, Cobblestone™ grip works in all weather conditions • Comfortable, soft grip helps absorb recoil, reducing fatigue over extended shooting sessions • Fiberglass reinforced skeleton for strength and perfect fit-to-action • Won’t harden with age; impervious to gun cleaning solvents/gun oils • Pillar bedding uses aluminum bosses for rock-solid accuracy • Barrel free-floats for maximum accuracy • Stocks come with ambidextrous palm swells, a “varminter” style forend, built-in swivel studs and Hogue recoil pad All HOWA M-1500’s feature: • One piece, forged steel receivers with flat bottom and integral recoil lug for strength • Hammer-forged barrels for precision rifling – and tack-driving accuracy • One-piece forged bolt with two large locking lugs for strength • A bolt face that completely surrounds the cartridge head, for safety • Powerful, M-16 style extractor for reliability • Fully adjustable trigger adjusts for sear engagement and weight of pull, and provides crisp, consistent let-off for a “custom” feel • Three position safety allows safe, single loading & secure lock-down • Lightweight, hinged floor plate opens at the touch of a button, eliminating awkward handling I topped it with a Vortex Viper 4-12x40 bdc ao scope. It is crystal clear an AWESOME scope for the money if they raised their price to 1000.00 it would still be worth it but for 399.00 it is a steal. On sunday me and Rick are going to push the 800 yard mark. I can't wait this will be fun

willhunt4coues Report post Posted December 12, 2010 Well I have no pics but it shoots 1/2 groups at 100 yards (bullets were touching each other measured from outside of a 3 shots). I did shoot at 200 and 500 and it hit the mark. It is a sweet gun and it sure is a tack driver. Now if I can get a yote with it then I wil have first blood for the new toy. azhuntnut Report post Posted December 13, 2010 That gun is similar to the Rem 700 SPS Tactical I recently got. It is a very good shooter when I do my part. It seems to like 150's better than the 168's. David http://www.remington.com/products/firearms...s-tactical.aspx
