Sam Report post Posted December 10, 2010 Great story and nice pictures. I would say he is a young bull, the ivories are kind of small. 3 or 4 year old??

bonecollector Report post Posted December 11, 2010 Great write up, I enjoyed reading it. I like those dark antlered bulls. Congrats to you on a great hunt all by yourself. You definitely deserve that bull.
kennyazman Report post Posted December 11, 2010 Great Job!!! I had the same hunt and was not smart enough to get out of those deep canyons on the southern part like you were. I spent most of my time in the cedar country and didnt do very good at all. That is a heck of a bull on a very hard hunt.
CouesWhitetail Report post Posted December 11, 2010 Awesome!! Love the solo backpack style hunt!! That is so cool!! I do that for coues but not sure I would do it for elk unless I had a army of packers to come help me once the elk was down. Loved your story, thanks for taking the time to write it up!! 3-4 year old seems like a good guess on age to me.

hunterlee Report post Posted January 11, 2011 Congrats. That deserves a lot of respect. There are not a lot of hunters who will first of all, elk hunt alone and second pack and tent up alone at the rim. Lots of respect to you. TC
