Great story and nice pictures. I would say he is a young bull, the ivories are kind of small.

Great Job!!! I had the same hunt and was not smart enough to get out of those deep canyons on the southern part like you were. I spent most of my time in the cedar country and didnt do very good at all. That is a heck of a bull on a very hard hunt.

Awesome!! Love the solo backpack style hunt!! That is so cool!! I do that for coues but not sure I would do it for elk unless I had a army of packers to come help me once the elk was down. Loved your story, thanks for taking the time to write it up!!

 

3-4 year old seems like a good guess on age to me.

Class act all the way around. I've never seen a bull with a hide that dark but mabey it just the lighting I'm the photo.

Congrats. That deserves a lot of respect. There are not a lot of hunters who will first of all, elk hunt alone and second pack and tent up alone at the rim. Lots of respect to you.
