couesobsession Report post Posted December 8, 2010 I've noticed that on a couple of my scopes a weird thing has happened. I get them and their great, when I look into them past where I have a full field of vision, I only get a narrower sight picture. But after zooming in and out for a few weeks, when I look into them I can see part of their internal structure where I couldnt before. I have a Vortex and can see four holes on a small protruding piece of metal, with three screws in the hole and one without. When I back out I can;t see this, but I look into it JUST past where I have a full field of view and I can. With my Sun Optics, the same has happened. I look into it and see a ring of metal with two indentations and I know its part of the scope's build, but I couldn't see it before. I've never seen this on other scopes. My question is this: Is it a problem? Is the scope broken? Does this just happen to scopes built recently? Has anybody else had this problem? If its not a bad sign, then why/what is it? Why are there three screws between four holse in my vortex? Is it defective? When I shake it nothing rattles around. My guess is since this happened to two scopes its no big deal, but I want to be sure.
