coueshunter Report post Posted December 1, 2010 I think the .257 is just not big enough for long range mule deer shots. I want a bit more bullet. After alot of talking with Duwane and luke Adams, they had some clients last year that wounded a buck at longer range with .257 and the buck the guy killed took 4 shots. Not good penetration on the animal at 500 yards. I think i will use the .257 for coues/antelope and put together another rig for bigger deer/elk.
