daryl_s Report post Posted November 26, 2010 My brother in law got his first deer ten minutes into legal shooting light this morning. This was his second deer hunt. It killed me having to stay home this morning because of an injury I have. It was cool to get the early morning phone call, though. My dad took him to the same spot where I got my deer opening morning of the October hunt this year. The plan was to get in before light and be glassing within shooting range of where we knew deer would be. Sure enough, the first deer they saw was a little 3x3 and my brother in law Johnny made a perfect shot at 271 yards. The deer died within 10 yards of where he shot him. Rarely does a hunt go exactly how you planned, but in this case it did. Congrats Johnny on your first deer!!! I wish I could have been there. It's going to be the first of many. Here's a weird little story. While they were looking at the deer in the binoculars they saw him pick up this skull. Odd, huh? He was actually holding the skull in his teeth when Johnny shot him.
