Guest super jumbo Report post Posted November 12, 2010 Thanks cpugsie for your time .The bull was killed in 23 north on the 3rd day of the hunt. I am proud of my little brother for having the patience to pass other bulls that were big in anyones book, especially for his first bowkill. He actually passed this bull the day before at 15 yards ,cause we didnt think he was this big. We thought he was in the mid 350's.His 7 point configuration and mass made him look smaller than he really is.On the same day he passed two other bulls that we have on video that would have gone 350-360(one was killed later by another hunter and it was 362). On sunday night my brothers bull came in and we decided to let him go again. The bull spent over 10 minutes in front of us sometimes as close as 12-15 yards. The whole time my brother had his bow on the ground and a video camera in his hand filming the action himself. The bull turned and walked away from us ,and just when he was gone a couple of cows came from another direction. The bull came back to check the new cows out ,and we decided he needed to be shot. My brother kept his cool and drilled him at 30 yards. It was a good shot, but the bull started walking closer to us, so i told him to shoot again. The bull took another arrow to the sweet spot at 25 yards ,and cotinued walking by us. I said "hammer him again", and that's just what happened. The bull went another 10 yards and fell over in front of us. It looked like a pin cushion in the bull's sweet spot. What a rush, better than if i would have had a tag. Wish the hunt would have lasted a little longer though.
Guest super jumbo Report post Posted November 12, 2010 Some measurements of the bull Left main beam 56.5 and right 57. He has almost 62 inches of mass. Even with the one small eyeguard which saved him the first time he is right at 374. I hate to be greedy but i wish he would have matched out his eyeguards, cause he would have gone in the mid 380's. Love killing white mountain bulls (20,000 dollars worth) for resident prices.

Guest super jumbo Report post Posted November 12, 2010 My mom drew the tag, and she then gave the tag to my little brother . She had 14 points ,which put her in the max pool draw. I think one of the best things the game and fish ever came up with was the juniors tag transfer program. And yes my mom was there the whole time along with the rest of the family. I wish the game and fish would expand this program so that brothers and sisters(older) from the same family could also donate their prospective tags to juniors. I tried hard last year to get the game and fish to let me donate my unit 9 archery rut tag to my little brother, but to no avail. By the way my little brother adam is 16 years old(i mistakenly put he is 17 in another post). San carlos coues deer tomorrow morning. KABOOM.

firstcoueswas80 Report post Posted November 12, 2010 Not being a smart @$$, but why pass on 360 bulls at 15 yards for your first elk? Awesome bull and I love the character.
