2011-37B, first time

Recommended Posts

Hey... so i got drawn for the 37b HAM this year. Any one have tips or areas to suggest to start scouting? Ive never hunted in here, but only four wheeled years ago by the box canyon/florence junction area. Been doing research online but not much info.

Its a big area with lots of ground to cover.

Tired of eating "tag soup" from hunts gone by! HELP PLEASE

This website has a lot of general javelina hits and tips. Make sure you look through all the tabs on the left hand side.

I'm not sure if you have ever hunted javelina before but for me I live to hunt. Just about any thing.

Dove quail turkey deer elk. I've always taken my big game hunts (deer and elk) extreamly serious. I. Very much enjoy them but when it comes to javelina its always been differant. I always have more fun. It may be that my dads always with me cause he does not hunt deer or that i feel less presure to make a kill. I can never quite put my finger on it. But I love to hunt javelinas, not any more or less than any thing else, its just differant.

I have been rained on and had tag soup on more javelina hunts than any other hunt. I too drew a ham hunt this year it will be my first time trying with just a bow.

Thanks for the website. (seen it last year, but forgot what the heck it was).

Nope, just new to that area. Last year we did 22 (by Rye) and then years past we did 32 and camped outside of mammoth. I just havent hunted 37b. With all the tags in there though, should be a decent hunt.

i got skunked on my javelina, turkey, and deer this year. So hopefully a new unit will bring the start to 2011 with a little brighter future

I've never hunted the unit either but if it were me I would scout near the east centeral part of the unit.

Never been in 37 country but have another tidbit of advice...

For those of you who are on your first archery hunt...make sure you watch where those little stink pigs run after you plunk them. A buddy of mine double lunged one last year, and we half a$$ watched where he went while celebrating a great shot. Spent the whole day trying to find that stink pig, and ended up eating a tag.

Good luck to you all!
