rpncby Report post Posted November 6, 2010 This year I got drawn for the December cow hunt in unit 10. I have never hunted this area before and was curious if anyone one could help me with possible locations to hunt any help would be appreciated.
anthonyrmatthews Report post Posted November 7, 2010 You will need to do some scouting for that hunt. They are in there, but odds are against you if you don't spend time getting to know the unit. G&F has a good map, and their website can help point you in the right direction. Good luck and welcome to a great site....
Jcubed Report post Posted November 18, 2010 Had that hunt last year and was lucky enough not to be caught in that massive storm that stranded many hunters. I found most of my luck to be had still hunting. The hunt is a tough one and if it snows heavily good luck getting anywhere in the unit. After the storm we were trudging through upwards of 2+ feet of snow. Did get our elk but had a lot of fun and saw some beautiful country... Good luck! izquik72 Report post Posted November 18, 2010 Get up early and get away from the roads. Start glassing in the grey light to catch elk leaving the open fields and moving to thicker areas to bed. The elk were very scattered in there earlier this year. They can be found almost anywhere in the unit. Find some tanks that have been getting hit and HAVE FUN. Get Away from ROADS!!! rpncby Report post Posted November 19, 2010 I had planned on hunting on mount floyd, and am hoping it works out. Haven't had a lot of time to scout this year (newly divorced with 2 children). One just turned 10 so I'm hoping if I can figure this unit out even a little mabye we can hunt there together next year. Thank you for the tips I was begining to think everyone here was out for themselves. (not trying to be rude I know everyone needs to do it themselves) thanks
