GodIsGood Report post Posted November 6, 2010 The Crown King Chamber of Commerce is working with a respected 3-D services provider to plan an event during the weekend of March 5th or 12th - which seems to be a good "tweener" time for hunting seasons. Crown King is about an hour and a half from my home in north Phoenix, hidden in the south end of the Bradshaw Mtns in mining community rich with history. At 6500' elevation, March will be cool days and brisk nights, but lots of camping spots are available close to the proposed shooting area. The Chamber thought it would be a good way to bring families up to CK to enjoy the scenery and amenities. In addition to being comparatively close to metro-Phoenix area, it has elevation for pines, lots of deviations in terrain and vegetation as well as a couple great restaurants to take your family for a sit-down meal, hotels, cottages and B&B's to stay over with no hassle, stores to pickup what you forgot to bring, one of the oldest saloons in the state, and at least one live band for entertainment. THE CHAMBER IS COMMITTED TO HOSTING AN EXCELLENT EVENT - So they are very interested in hearing from sportsmen about what things they have liked or been disappointed by at other 3-D shoots. I have only been to one - so I dont have a lot to compare to... but it was about a 3hr drive for me up by Kelly Canyon Rd off I-17. I thought being a LOT closer to town with a few easy options to stay over nite and closer facilities would have made it even more enjoyable. CouesWhitetail Report post Posted November 6, 2010 I haven't ever done a 3d shoot, but it sounds like a great idea to me. I have had booths at some of the shoots and archers seem to love them and I would think there are a bunch of people who would love to do this.
