Codywhi Report post Posted November 3, 2010 Been having some great luck calling in cats the last two weeks but for one reason or another i just cant get a shot off... i think i need to pack the shotgun... called in two cats tonight couldnt seal the deal,,, one at ten and one at 60 with no good shots... spooked the one at 10 yards off.. the one at 60 never came out of the thick stuff.. so my question is how long should i wait untill i can call these setups again... im using a fox pro spitfire ... the setups are working just having some bad luck what do you guys think....thanks... out4blood Report post Posted November 4, 2010 Shotgun can't hurt. Get some heavyshot Dead Coyote. It LETHAL out to 60 yards with the right choke. I KO'd a swan in North Dakota at about 100 yards with the stuff. Another set of eyes would probably help too.
josh Report post Posted November 4, 2010 Boy I'd say your having luck calling in cats! When targeting cats I try to find tight cover but also a spot in the cover that the cat will have to come into the open. As you have probably heard I believe we call in alot more bobcats than we realize because of how sneaky they sometimes are. Another tactic is if there is any kind of elevation around the area trying to be above incoming shooting lanes like thick washes with high banks. I know guys say you can go back and call a cat that got away the next day but I have NEVER had luck calling a cat back in the same spot that was spooked out or shot at and missed. They can have a large territory so try to find other areas near by that you can call. Switch up your sounds as well. Good luck
