Best cheap binos

Recommended Posts

You can get 20x pentax for that much. I have used mine for years and have done just fine. I also have 12x celstron that I carry that I am very pleased with. Like you, I just can't bring myself to fork out the big bucks for binoculars.

I bought a pair of the Pentx 20X, the glass is decent, just couldn't get comfortable on them. Just didn't fit my eyes right. Gave them to my dad and he loves them. I think they run about $250.

I have a pair of the 20s that you are talking about.

I really do like them, they are big, that is for sure, but they are decent to good glass....

a couple of suggestiond are;

get a strong trpod and head to support the weight, because they are heavy and when they start to move in the wind it gets a bit annoying.

Also get a strong tripod adapter I actually ended up using an L bracket from the hardware store.

If I were you I would get those, you won't be disipointed, for what you want to spend.

I don't know who makes them but they are made in Japan which is a lot beter than being made in China. I have heard rumors that they are made by Steiner, but I have not been able to confirm it. Steiner is in Germany and these are from Japan. My buddy has the Steiner 20x80s and I dont see a differense in the glass or the ergonomics.

orion are made for star gazers - i got a pair of the 10x50 ultras - and they are super great optics - these come in a varity of size

i got a pair of 30x80 - cabelas type- and i really like them -I'd forget the one eye patch /spotting scope - you get a much better view with these huge 80 glass and a much better picture - i never can get use to one eye - but everyone is different

I had a decent spotting scope and only used it for looking at holes in paper at the range cause I could never get comfortable with it, thus it always stayed in the safe and I ended up selling it. I like the idea of having a strong fixed power pair of binos for long distance looking. Thanks for the advice!
