az4life Report post Posted October 24, 2005 Scottyboy, Your BP team is our only protection. Sorry to say you have a tough nut to crack. Thank You for trying to do your important jobs. I know you do the best you can, and I pray for your safety in doing so. Be Safe out there. Sorry, but No one ever accused me of being politically correct, and I know these posts are controversial I just need to ignore them like I do CHD, but we must acknowledge this serious problem or we are no better than the politicians. Yes. I do have strong opinions on this topic, and some might even try to call me racist. Anytime someone says things like this, the left will blast you with the racist label but someone has to say it. Heck, I am from AZ and enjoy a lot of the sonoran heritage and people and I have friends who I respect from a variety of heritages and cultures. One of them is even here legally from mexico with Legal documents! Now I won't say he feels exactly the same way I do, about illegal immigration, but he thinks everyone should be here legally or not at all. He says most legal mexican immigrants feel the same. Hmmmm? Anyway you slice it; UDA (Un-documented Aliens) "Undocumented" is just a way to make people "feel" better but it is still ILLEGAL. Finally, I do not support a "Merger" with any country that cannot take care of it's own people. There are an estimated 11 million+ illegal immigrants in the US Right now with the majority being from mexico. Does not sound like thye are a good candidate for merger with anyone. Az is also estimated to be more than 50% hispanic in the next 10-15 years. Someting needs to be done besides granting amnesty or merging with the invader. Soapbox put away. Good night. God Bless everyone in need, and in this country Legal or not, and help us to respect and protect each other as you teach us to. Give us strength and Protect our guardians on the border and in the war on terrorism across the globe. Help me to think before I speak and act before I react. vegasjeep Report post Posted October 24, 2005 (edited) I'm no bleeding heart "leftist" and agree that there are legal methods of coming to this country but I'm getting sick of and saddened by stupid comments that are being made on a great post that is intended to share hunting knowledge, etc. As an American Hispanic with Native American(Hopi) blood, my ancestors probably thought the same thing Az4Life has said, except flip Hispanic and Anglo around:? ? "never thought Arizona or the US would be more hispanic than anglo" - What ?!?? ? ? Come on give me a break gentlemen, I just couldn't hold back. I've also read this same kind of garbage on other hunting posts. Even made by well known guides/outfitters! I wonder how their(outfitters) compadres on the other side of the border would feel about these post. Or what the reaction would be if the Mexican Ranchers shut down the Sonoran hunts because of hurtful comments made on these post. " Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark". I'm not asking that you extingish the love and passion we all have for our great country, I'm just asking that we are a little mindful of what we post and how it's said. It saddens me that the high number of UDA's are wrecking our hunting spots. I've personally seen the devastation that has taken place in some of my favorite hunting spots in 30B. Then the drug smugglers and coyotes, man forget about it! Man, that is a whole other subject. It flat out sucks! Good luck to the BP, they are stretched razor thin and have leaders in Washington without any "nads" to firm up our borders. You want to blame someone for the fine mess our borders are in, start at the top and work your way down. Our borders without any doubt need protection and should be made secure, esp. in a time of war. Ernesto, thanx for your prayers and great insight. I also wish everyone well and many blessings on their hunts, be safe , be alert and be kind.? GOD BLESS you all. ? ? ? ? ? Ernest J <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Although some of the things you say are valid alot of things are not. i will start with your last comment. WE do nto need to start at the top to stop our border problem. Yes BP needs more funding, they also need to be able to enforec harsher penalties for people coming over the border. WE should not have to have a fence or anything. They need to stay put where they are. Canadians are not swarming our borders form the north. They just are nto doing it. But illegals form Mexico are coming in swarms. IT SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING. We need to enforce or pass new laws. If each and everyone of us passed over a federal border that was laid down onto a military or other such area we would have harsher penalties laid on us then the illegals that come across to our border. They are not just destroying our hunting ares. they are also killing our economy, our way of life and our neighborhoods. They come here and work, the money they earn does nto stay here in America to support our economy. It is sent to Mexico. So not only are they hurting us by sneaking over here they hurt us by not putting our econommies money BACK IN OUR ECONOMY. EMployers should be penalized for highering these illegals. Laws need ot be passed TODAY. Any business has 90 days to get rid of all illegals. After that it is 100 dollars to anyone reporting an illegal working here for an employer. When an employer is caught he is fined a LARGE some of money or put out of business PERIOD!!!! They will stop coming here. They will see they cannot work. If they are worth anything they can implement another part of the law. If a mexican applies to work here FROM MEXICO he can do so. If he checks out ok then he can come work here for NORMAL wages. Otherwise send them home. . This may cause great controversy for a bit but the illegal migration would stop soon... Men women and children should all be dissposed as they have passed a federal border and we have to obide by these laws why dont they? If we began to do this the illegals would decide it is no longer worth sneakign to OUR COUNTRY. One we worked hard to implement and create. Only to have it ruined by illegals who are not punished for the crimes they commit. Edited October 25, 2005 by Ernesto C
grizzly Report post Posted October 24, 2005 There is really no excuse for Mexico to be in the shape it is. They have all of the natural resources necessary to be a super-power. The corruption in the government is inexcusable. I heard a talk-show host last week say that if the US werent artificially propping up their economy there would have been a revolution to overthrow the government within the last 20 years. Something to think about, if that is the case we are not only hurting ourselves by allowing them to be here we are hurting them.
azhuntsmen Report post Posted October 24, 2005 I just dont understand how the goverment can send troops thousands of miles away to rebuild a country that doesnt directly affect us, yet does little if anything to one that has caused more damage here at home. But anyway i want to talk about deer cause we only ONE week to WOOOHOO ladies and gents. .270 Report post Posted October 24, 2005 ya don't hafta go huntin' to have a run in with "illegal aliens". i've been exercising my horse to get him legged up before deer season. last night i rode right into a whole camp of em. right in the middle o' town. looked as if they were waitin' for a coyote to haul em into the city. they real aggressive and acted like they wanted to get me off the caballo. i usually always pack a pistol in my saddle bag. no matter where i'm at. i'm glad i didn't have it last night because today i'd be on the national news. i called the BP and they said they were gonna go roust em out. we'll see. i ain't ridin' my horse any more, less'n i take a gun. it was a real disgusting thing all around. they were camped out within 50 yards of a real nice subdivision. and there were several of em with no pants on doin' some pretty gross things when i rode into the mess. a couple of em got big sticks and acted like they wanted to get me off the horse real bad. he mighta been the coyote. a couple others were in the brush trying to flank me. anyway, if i'da had a gun it woulda been one ugly mess because they were dang sure trying to get me in a corner. what really got me to thinking hard was just last sunday my daughter rode right through the exact same place, by herself. i used to really feel sorry for the plight of the folks that come this away. not any more. last night was a little too spooky. if this happens again we'll see how they deal with my ol' 1100 remington quail gun. this is BS of the highest order. Whitehntr Report post Posted October 24, 2005 I didn't mean to start a topic that brought out all the political aspects of these illegals. We all have differing views on the reasons and solutions of these problems. I agree with some of you and disagree with others, but my political beliefs are irrelevant to this website. I just wanted to warn everybody and tell them to be careful. Lets get back to talking about the upcoming deer hunts, that is the reason this website was started. Good Luck this weekend and post some good pics.
.270 Report post Posted October 24, 2005 well fellers, guess what? both the stinkin' border patrol and sherrif joe's bunch told me to go to heck. neither one is interested. in fact, the mcso said they might hafta come and arrest me now, because i told em i wasn't ridin' anymore without packin' a gun. the mcso already knew about the camp and said it was a felony for em to do anything about it. ain't it a felony to cross the border illegally? why is it a felony for cops to arrest felons? said because i couldn't provide positive ID, they couldn't do anything. heck, if a guy can pull a citizens arrest on the freeway, shouldn't a cop be able to arrest felons? man, i am confused. more than usuall, too. guess i shoulda let em drag me off the horse so's i could make a positive ID. dang, i'm pissed off right now. i told the deppity that it wasn't against the law for me to pack a gun, and he had to agree to that. one thing about Az., we have the best gun packin' laws in the country. like whitehunter says, be vigilant. maybe we need to be vigilante, too. this is really disheartening. i struggled with even callin' the authorities, because i figgerd i'd end up bein' the bad guy. guess i was right. why do we even have cops? guess i'll hafta stick to the roads now, so i don't hafta worry about gettin' assaulted by felons that it's againt the law for cops to arrest. Whitehntr Report post Posted October 24, 2005 .270 This is whitehntr. To be quite honest with you we do need the police. In fact I am in training right now to become one. I am not the mcso though. They have there own issues. Its hard for the police to do their job because every right out there is to protect the felons. It is your right to carry your weapon as long as it is not concealed. It is also your right to defend your life if you feel you are being threatened, but remember a jury must also believe you did what a reasonable person would have done. Some other people say its better to be tried by 12 than carried by six. Thats a decision you will have to make. You need to take this issue a little higher up the chain if mcso wont do anything about it. They should have sent an officer out with you to make those positive IDs. We cant go around arresting every mexican in the desert, but if you know which ones threatened you then the mcso has an obligation to assist you, even if that means going out there and handling the situation. Good luck and let me know how it ends up.
CouesWhitetail Report post Posted October 24, 2005 Sorry to hear about the run-in you had Lark. Glad it wasn't your daughter. The only thing that will really stop immigration is to make it so Mexicans can make a good living in Mexico. They primarily come here for jobs and frequently send the money home to family. If they didn't have to leave Mexico to make money, I think they would stay in their own country. So I think what we need is to cause economic reform somehow. More police, more fences, more guns, won't stop the problem. Desperate people will always do desperate things to live. We need to work with some native Mexicans to help form solutions to the economic problems of the people in Mexico. I really ache when I think of all the ranchers who have spent their lives (and frequently many generations of their family) in a beautiful area in southern AZ. And now they can't let their kids play outside alone or go riding the hills alone. Amanda
Chef Report post Posted October 24, 2005 I'll chime in... Decades ago, many, if not all of illegal immigrants came here to better themselves and their families. They were hard working, honest people with morals and came here to work. Work they did. Now, two to three generations later, they have learnt to corrupt the system. To take advantage of the system. To aquire government aid, free hospital care, pay no taxes, get unemployment and still hold a cash paying job. The list goes on. The worst part of this is, they remain illegal, with no effort to properly immigrate into this country. Plus, they are full of attitude, cockiness, and downright shady. There are still the good ones out there, it's just the minority. I used to love to go to the Mexican oriented stores and markets here in the SW. Now I stay away. Too many "Sinaloans" packing heat. Too many Guatemalan's (coyotes) giving attitude. They run drugs, illegals, you name it. It's a continuing trend I've seen for several years. It's too cool to be bad. .270 Report post Posted October 24, 2005 amanda, i used to feel the same way. but i ain't ever gonna waste any time feeling sorry for em again. and i ain't never gonna waste any time calling the cops again. for anything. the deppity i talked to said that around 80% of what they do is deal with situations involving illegal aliens. theft, wrecks, trespassing, fraud, drugs, murder, etc. in other words, all they do is chase their tails. for them to turn it around to where i'm the bad guy is the wrong thing to do. i'm done ever feeling sorry for any illegal aliens again. i don't care what the situation is. i won't even swirve to miss one in the road. when they cross the border, they are a felon. but they have more rights here than me or you. i just got told that this morning. if me or you woulda done what they did, they'da called out the national guard to put down the uprising. but instead, and i'll quote, "their hands are tied". if they wanna go around with tied hands, fine. not me. i'm done ever thinking the cops are on my side again. they enforce what's convenient. anyway, enough rants. i will never give quarter again, tho. rigutierrez Report post Posted October 24, 2005 OK 270. I am cuurenlty employed by a law enforcement agency. I am not an officer but am an employee with experience. If an officer has a run in with an illegal alien they Usually (not all the time) call out Border Patrol for the detention of the subjects in question. It is really not there job to look out for them or to track them down. It IS there Job to protect you. if you go out there again carry your weapon. Put it in the holster on your side. That is just fine. Also carry a cell phone. Not sure how signals work out there but carry the thing and when you see them report it! call BP yourself. Call MCSO if they seem to be putting you in danger. MCSO HAS TO RESPOND. And if they don't then you might have a nice fight you can pick with them in court. And if they put you in extreme Danger well then...........Warning shot might work. I myself am Hispanic and My father and Mother were once illegals. I always back up the illegals since that is how I got the chance be born here in the USA. But if these guys are being agressive and putting your life in danger, well, I have to agree with 270. My way of life has a priority above them and my will to live is very high. No one illegal or Legal should have the right to put me in danger. Now lets not cause a seen and go out there and call it open season on them eithere. Remeber if your life or Someone's life is in extreme immediate danger then you do what you have to do. Untill that time come (god hope it dosen't) , keep your gun in your holster. If you see them out in the field Ingore them. If they see you acknowledge them so that way they know you see them as well. God bless all of your hunts and hope the best for you guys!
Kilimanjaro Report post Posted October 24, 2005 I want to thank all of you for the kind words of support for me and the Patrol as a whole. Thank you. Its good to hear fro people who actually support the BP. Sounthern Az doesn't have the best reputation for supporting the BP and its mission. Mainly because it disrupts alot of the residents' of their income.. illegals and dope. But hey, we can't keep everybody happy!!! I am proud of the job I get to do, and for the most part, love doing it. It is a great paying job, the opportunities for advancement are almost endless, and if I may say so myself, its just plain fun to get paid to go out into the desert and hunt people!! That is why I joined the BP. I get paid to hunt bad guys. We are all aware of whats happening out there. The problem doesn't lie just in our laps. We are just dealing with the byproduct of a corrupt govt. Mexico cannot and will not take care of its social plight and therefore, these people are swarming over here to make a better life for themselves. The majority of these people are just wanting a better way of life for themselves and their families. The sad part is, the gangbangers, the drug runners, middle easterners, and every other exotic you can think of are what makes the border a dangerous place. They have taken over along the border and the Mexican Govt has turned the other way and let it happen. Sometimes the Mex Govt IS THE ONE WHO IS ORGANIZING AND DOING ALL THIS!! I have seen it with my own eyes. With all this said about Mex and its crap Govt, Washington also has its own set of problems and screw ups. They have the ol' " lets look the other way and maybe the problem will just go away" syndrome. Immigration is not on Washington's priority list of things to fix. Because they aren't in it everyday like everyone who lives in Sou AZ, the immigration problem gets thrown into the stack of "honeydo's" to be done later. Until it becomes a priority, the problem WILL continue. And the BP will continue to fight a losing battle. The only reason you are seeing the issue of illegal immigration right now an a national level is because there are a few men and women out there who have had enough of all this and decided to bring the nation up to speed as to what the heck is gong on out there. They call themselves the MinuteMen. Yes, they may be a pain in all our butts.. ie. they are out in the desert during hunts, they are CONSTANTLY CALLING THE BP when we are trying to work , BUT, I for one think that what they are doing is ruffling enough feathers on both sides of the border that it is finally being seen for what it is: A HUGE PROBLEM. I thank them for that. I really wish I could share some of the stories I have on this forum, but its just not a smart thing for me to do. I hope I can meet alot of you at the dinner this weekend and I will tell you how it really is out there. Just remember, you are not alone in the desert in Southern AZ when you think you are. To think about it may give some of you the creeps, but its the truth. There WILL be illegals out there... And drug runners, and coyotes, and so on. Be careful and watch your 6. But by all means, enjoy the desert and the hunts that we ae fortunate enough to have. Don't let this deter you from enjoying YOUR state and its great outdoors. Just be vigilant and mindful of whats out there.
CamoJeep Report post Posted October 25, 2005 Hey, no disrepect for the BP, I appreciate everyone of you. I know you guys do what you can and I wish you were allowed to do more so nothing at all against any of you. But come on, Everyone of us Southern AZ. hunters has to watch our backs and wait till we feel a jury would see that we are "threatened" to fight back against felons? By law I lose my hunting rights if I am convicted of littering, yet Illegals litter all the way here? If I choose to create a child I need to pay more for health care to cover my child but if they have a child here, that child is covered free for life? Why don't we penalize more? These guys get caught one day and get caught again 2 days later..... How about "you bust the border you bust out some license plates for a year" How about Highway cleanup? They get off scott free running the border and us hunters go down, risk our lives and clean up the border units every year for em? Make it benefit the rest of us if they get caught at the very least. O.K. soapbox sliding away now........
Kilimanjaro Report post Posted October 25, 2005 Its like someone else said earlier. problems start at the top. If you are that mad about it, call your Congressmen. Don't blame the BP. We just do what we are told to do from the high-ups in DC. I promise, it would be alot different if we could do what was supposed to be done. But when your hands are tied behind your back, there's not a lot you can do. You just go to work, do what you can, and you make it your mission to get home everyday at the end of your shift. It all BP Agents took the job personally, like some do, you would get so fed up with all the BS that you would quit within your first year. You just do what ya can, and deal with it tomorrow cuz God knows, they are syill going to be out there to catch another day.
