elkaholic Report post Posted January 18, 2011 Steve - sorry to hear the commision where total butt's but it doesn't surpeise me - you will need someone to sit and watch the g$f trailer at this yrs sportsmen expo. cuz they will not tell you when they will be presented for sale -if they actually get to them! no guarentee's - last yr they still had stuff left in trailer! You can bet they will have a fairly high minimum bid - most hunters know of your delima and we shall do everything possible to help- don't be afraid to ask- ok - Hopefully this will have a happy ending - Gary
catclaw Report post Posted January 18, 2011 THE LAW IS THE LAW. IF LIBERALS CONTINUE TO DO THEIR STUFF WE WILL NOT BE HUNTING AT ALL. SO IF YOU DONT WANT LAWS THEN BECOME A LIBERAL. AND ENJOY. It's not the law, it's a "policy" that they have in place. HUGE difference.
elkaholik13 Report post Posted February 2, 2011 Same Story as Steve's I shot a 180 class mule deer during the archery deer hunt in 2010 i shot the deer on December 29th. I mad a bad shot due to my arrow deflecting off of a tree branch, we tracked the deer for 5 miles afraid that if we backed off the snow would cover the tracks and blood trail. Finally at dark we decided to back off and hope for the best that night we got 26" of snow on top of the 12" we already had. It made it very difficult to recover my deer we walked in knee deep snow looking for him and even brought out snow machines to look for him. On January 8th 2011 i found him and called the G&F. The officer came out and looked over the area and stated he had no doubt it was my deer. He took the antlers regardless, now i have to go through the commission, hopefully they will give the antlers back, but I doubt it. I will probably end up buying them at auction in 2012. I will be at that ISE show and would greatly appreciate it if no one else would bid on my deer thanks.
BigMoqui Report post Posted February 2, 2011 It's pretty sad that even though there seemed to be proof beyond a resonable doubt that this indeed was your bull G$F still took the stance that they did. But what I find even more appalling is that it sounds like the warden in unit 8 that did the right thing got his A$$ in the wringer for it. The fish cops are getting worse. Lived here all my life and when I was young the wardens were outdoorsmen, salt of the earth type people, someone a kid could look up to ask questions of and be treated fairly and respected. Not only have my encounters in the last few years been more negative than positive, but I've felt increasingly like I was being accused of something or even just talked down to. I'm not saying this was every instance, but it seems the demographic of our wardens has really changed. Which is evident in the name change from warden or ranger to wildlife manager. It seems as though many come from out of state with different agendas, educations, and values. Not to mention the way the commission is managing wildlife for dollars. What else would explain there stance on this. Anyway sorry to here about all you guys having trouble collecting your trophys. It truely is a shame, but I know what I'll do in this situation if ever to arise. And I assume alot of others who read this type of stuff will do if put into similar circumstances. Good hunting.
