Dan Report post Posted October 16, 2010 What range finder are you using? Got a LRH rifle comming next week and would like acurate 1600yd. finder. I've heard the lica 1600 is good but also heard good things about Zies rangefinders. Got a bushnell 450 but that ain't going to cut it!! Also , what balistic program are you useing? oz31p Report post Posted October 16, 2010 I've been using a bushnell arc 1000. I have no complaints. it goes to. 1000 consistanly and accuratly. For balistlc programs the best I've found is a program called shooter but I belive it is only for smart phones. 1600y is pretty far. What cal is your rifle. 1000y is quite dificult, I can't imagine any cal of hunting rifle that constisant and accurate at 1600y. What scope are you using?? jeffro Report post Posted October 16, 2010 Being new to longrange hunting, going from 450yrds to 1600yrds will require a lot of practice, work, and skill. Lets see the specs of the new rifle. My advice is to not shoot out side your limits. Know your limits at all times. The animals deserve more respect than just shooting at them. As far as rangefinders. Dan Report post Posted October 17, 2010 Ended up getting a Zeiss victory PRF. Good out to 1300 yrds.Got a $100 rebate from Zeiss and had a $100 off cupon from cabelas. Trying to get setup for LRH is a chore as well as a bit expensive !! (LOL) Now all I need is a a balistic program for my PDA (Dell axim) which I got off e-bay. Can't wait to get out and practice. catclaw Report post Posted October 29, 2010 Good luck with that rangefinder- I am holding out for a Vectronix unit. Nothing else that I have found will cut it. They will range past 1000 yds on good targets but try an antelope in the flats at 1000. None will do it. Have not tried the Leica 1600 but they are more of a mythical creation than anything.
