I have scouted 9 days combined for wt hunts so far.. only one day was actually for my tag... and luck was on my side!!!

It was a typical drive up late night, glass early and be home by noon... kinda trip..

I turned up my usual doe and fawn combo on the same flat as all the years before...

after 2 hours of only does.. reality set in... my designated day of scouting.... was coming to a close.. I was a little upset to drive 3.5 hours to only sleep for 4 hours and glass for 3. its a hard pill to swallow but life gets in the way sometimes..

so Im packing up my stuff to head back to the truck.. I put my rifle on my pack, grab my water bottles etc. and i start to hoof it back.. I walk about 10 yds and see a little patch of shade that I had missed while glassing.. so I free hand my tripod on a spot about 2000 yds. away... and the moment my eyes come into focus I about toppled over when I have a sillohette of a deer in my view.... a huge sigh... what dumb luck... didnt scan or move my binos just plum picked a spot and bam I have a buck!!!! I couldnt make out size tines width or anything but by the location and his body size i knew that iwas on a buck... so I reach into my pack to get a spotting scope.. nope... its back at the truck... so Im now walking and glassing to make sure I can see if he beds or moves locations.. after 20 min. of hiking and glassing im back at the truck... my buck is GONE!!! I felt confident he didnt go far so I set up my spottiong scope.. and began to continue glassing with my binos.. after 10 min... im on em again... he bedded in tall grass out in the open... phew... so IM giving directions to my nephew on where the bucks at... and hes looking through his 15s and he says its a biggun.. hes on him now so I slide into my spotting scope... only to reveal a beautiful tall 3x3.. not all that wide .. but great tines and mass at 2000 yds... cody (my nephew) spots a doe with him... so I go back to binos and turn up two more bucks!!! woohooo 2 shooters and one keeper... all in my last 15 min. of glassing.. and we still left by 9 am... that 3 hour drive back was a little bit sweeter due to my last minute findings.... thank you God for my days in the field...

these two bucks are prolly 90 inchers... but I hunt to keep my head straight and to stay humble... any thing with eyeguards gets... 180 gr. nosler....

good luck to all... happy hunting

180gr is a bit much, don't you think? ;)

Thank you for getting the blood boiling.

180 gr. is alot..

but out past 500 yds. the velocity from 150 gr to 180 gr is less then 200 fps difference
