oz31p Report post Posted October 7, 2010 Two weeks ago I went to the craft store and found Styrafoam pellets, went home and emptied the sand out of my Caldwell shooting bag and stuffed the styrofoam in instead.. It has gone from 6 pounds to 9 ozs. It has a nice loop on it so I can strap it to my pack. Along with my Harris bipod, I have made shots out to 725 yds. Very happy with this set up. Mike That's the best idea I've heard all day.

youngbuck Report post Posted October 8, 2010 I generaly shoot prone with my harris, but use rocks, a coat, a hat, or my pack under the butt. Some times I will use my fist too. I was curious about the butt pod. Anybody use one and like it? Is it adjustable enough to be usable?
hawkeye Report post Posted October 29, 2010 This weekend I used something I never have used before. My son glassed up a buck at 500 yds. and he bedded. I have a Harris bi-pod on my Tikka 300 Win. Mag. Due to a weird angle I couldn't get a steady prone shot with the bi-pod no matter how I tried. I carried my CLAW in my pack, so I clamped it to my gun and my son took his spotting scope off of his tri-pod. In a sitting position I still couldn't get steady. I then took my Harris bi-pod off of my gun and place it under the butt. It took a few moments to get steady but I had a rock solid rest. He was lying in some grass pointing toward me. I put my 500 yard dot on his nose and pulled the trigger. I shot him in his left eye ball. I couldn't belive it but he stood up. I had to shoot him again, to put him down. It took a few more shots because by this time I was shaking a little, but I finally hit him in the shoulder.
