Unit 35A suggestions

First time hunting in Arizona I'm from North Dakota. Does anyone have any suggestions to where i should start scouting.

I have never hunted that unit but the AZGF Unit reports is always a good place to start.

keep alert and wear a sidearm at all times... lots of Dope going thru that area.

the side arm is a must i have run across drug runners down here before hiking, i was planning to stay near some of the more heavy BP routes.

I hunted their last fall, no problems. Just stayed on my toes. Saw 12 different deer, no shooters. Got to get off the beaten path.

Try the Mustang Mtn's. .....Some real nice bucks in there.

Mustangs might have been good at one time or another but they suck now. I've spent over 10 days scouting the Mustangs in the past year and I've yet to see a buck. I average 2-3 does an outing in there. I believe your time would be better spent in a different part of the unit.

I'm thinking of trying south of the fort in the canyons. I've always seen deer back in there. Also i've been scouting the other side of the Huachuca's around the foothills seen alot of deer signs. Still haven't seen any to talk about. The nice thing about all this scouting I have spending alot of time with my 9 year old daughter. She loves going out scouting with me. One good thing we found our new Turkey spot.
