azhuntnut Report post Posted October 4, 2005 Let me send you my address. Give the make-a wish foundation a try and see what type of program they have. My brother had cancer when he was 13 and they provided a shopping spree for him at Phx Sports when they were still in business. I have also heard about youngins going on hunting trips, but I don't know who the foundation was. David http://www.wishaz.org/wishing/wishing05.html
BASS Report post Posted October 5, 2005 Thanks guys. I remember at the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation seminar in Mesa, they mentioned that some one donated a Unit 1 Bull tag. When I heard that, I started thinking what terminal illness I might of had.

BowhuntCoues Report post Posted October 5, 2005 Bass, Let us know what you find out. My friend that was hurt in August had a 7W archery bull tag and the Game and Fish Dept. told him he could not transfer the tag to anyone. That was too bad that would have been a good tag to have this year and he couldn't shoot his bow and couldn't give the tag away.

I'm still waiting on a reply form the AZGFD, as well as from the actual hunt of a lifetime place. I'll keep you all posted.
ultramag Report post Posted October 5, 2005 i understand the theory on not being able to let someone else use your tag due to someone making money on it, but to turn it into the g&f because you know you can not use it.why not give it to someone that will! oh well its just one of those things i will never understand. BASS Report post Posted October 5, 2005 Okay, I was thinking about how long it had been since I first e-mailed the AZGFD and it has been just about a week. I knew I had seen the info in the 05-06 regs so I went looking. On page 51, A.R.S.17-332 (D)(1) reads A person may transfer the person's big game permit or tag to a qualified organization for use by a minor child who has a life threatening medical condition. The commision may prescribe the manner and conditions of transfering and using permits and tags under this paragraph. For the purpose of this paragraph, "qualified organization" means a nonprofit organization that is qualified under section 501©(3) of the United States Internal Revenue Code and that affords opportunities and experiences to children with life threatening conditions. Acording to that, the Hunt of a Lifetime falls right into the slots. I just hope that I didn't wait to long, but I think I might have.
BowhuntCoues Report post Posted October 5, 2005 Hopefully you can find a good use for the tag. Or I guess I could change my name for the week. Good Luck and keep us posted.
