CouesWhitetail Report post Posted September 7, 2010 There are lots of species of oak in the SW. The major ones in AZ are Gambel oak (the one that has the large green leaves and grows in the higher elevations), Arizona White oak, Emory Oak and scrub oak. The last three listed are lower elevation species (maybe 3-5,000 feet, although they can be found higher up).
couescooker Report post Posted September 19, 2010 I didn't know you could eat acorns! Crushing them & adding them to pancake batter sounds like something I'd like to have sometime. The only "different" thing I've tried since I've moved to AZ is prickly pear but I only ended up hurting myself!
