Minute Man Patrol Oct Hunt

Recommended Posts

Word is there is another Minute Man patrol scheduled for the month of October. I am not sure the impact it has on us hunting in 36 and 34 but I am sure it will not be positive.

azyoung,

I just bought 2 new-fangled water carrying systems, they are called Camelhands.

Thought I got a great price on them at $20 dollars a piece or $50 for two. But now that you mention it they do kind of look like 1 gallon water jugs and you can just make out the word "Arrowhead" on them if you look real close. I really like them and carrying them by the handles (included) frees up my back to carry 90 pounds of worthless crap while I climb the nastiest hills I can find. Are you suggesting that I shouldn't carry these new fangled wonders of science when we are hunting this November?

Ha Ha I couldn't resist.

azyoung,

Who the heck told you about my new daypack! This isn't funny anymore. I spent a weeks salary on this daypack because it will hold 90 pounds of worthless crap and it's waterproof. It even has bright yellow plastic drawstring handles at the top that you can use to tie the top shut. I guess I will have to go back and find that guy in Arivaca and threaten him with brushing his tooth so I can get my money back for the jugs and daypack!

Very funny stuff.

My worry has never been the illegals. They have always stayed down low and have generally kept quiet during the day.

My issue is having these guys driving all over the place since they have no idea where they are going.Taking up positions on my ridge lines. Making noise and generally creating a nusiance of themselves. They will have the media there

with trucks and helicopters.

I'm thinking the best way to avoid these guys is to carry a gallon of water and a plastic bag. I ahvef seen a lot of guys dressed like that and nobody who is looking forthem seems to see them.

LOL

Careful with those insinuations about illegals.

Sounds like you might be in hot water for "profiling" if you use these camo hands as criteria for stoppign someone.

gnoto, I think your right the southern units have to much traffic as is with the minute men potrol its going to draw more people in the area with the minute men, protesters and the media. I hope they cancel or reschedule so they don't effect anyone's hunt.

I have no interest in stopping anybody and do not think its the the best idea those guys do what they are doing. They have no authority to act. Somebody will eventually get hurt. The coyotes are not going to come near the area those guys are in and if they do they will go right by them just like they do the BP. If there is a confrontation who do you think is better prepared for that. I have no idea but I bet it would not be good either way.

Last year while Javelina hunting I watched a guy walking around a ravine cutting open water bottles. When I asked him just what he was doing he told me he was doing his part to keep America safe. I still do not get his motivation but he was sure he was justified in his actions. We are all motivated by different things I guess.

I posted my answer on the bow hunting section. So if you want you can read it down there so I do not have to post it twice. :P

In 36B several years ago we found in a canyon north of Ruby a small cave that had a military cot, camo uniform, water food and a case of 45 ammo we got nervous and left. Later reported it to the Game and Fish he said it could be anyone from the feds to a drug scout. He aslo said that someone is always watching you when your down along the border.

90 pounds of worthless crap???? Perhaps when paying $25.00 a pound in Mexico. Once you get it back East it goes for $1,200 a pound.

$108,000

- 2,250 (cost in MX)

- 500 (gotta pay the backpacker)

- 3,000 (gotta pay the driver)

=$102,250 Net Profit :P

Not too shabby for a bunch of worthless crap! If you don't already know what I'm talking about then I'll leave you in your sheltered, blissfully ignorant (no disrespect intended) world. It is your God given right to be there as a citizen of the United States of America.

Don't forget there might be 30 of them backpackers carrying the same worthless crap!!!

Did I just go on a rant?

Thanks to the guys/gals down there giving it their all to hold back the hoard. They're holding back a tidalwave with tea cups!

Later,

Matt

We went into the King Anvil for the Dove opening weekend, Sat I think, and in the sign in book I saw a guy from Minute Man had signed in the book earlier that morning. I wondered what would be different if at all now that this guy was in the area at the same time and..................nothing. I guess it was only one guy and I don't know how much if any impact it could have had.

A patrol? I don't know what that means, maybe one guy or a bunch. I would just do my thing and they will do theirs.

Does anyone know if they "go high" and glass to report or do they actually drive around? If they do glass then I would hit them up for info on where the deer are. When we glass we glass up UDA's anyways so they have to be seeing deer too.

Good luck and let us know what if any infuence they had.

:P

lfootmatt,

I think I do understand what you mean by 90 pounds of worthless crap. I just wanted to point out I was making a joke about how much gear somehow seems to end up in my daypack whenever I go hunting. I hope everyone understands that my post was a joke. We have a serious problem at our borders, and I appreciate the folks who are serving their country, officially holding the line. I don't think the Minute Men are helping the situation at all though.
