seek100plus Report post Posted August 31, 2010 I was wondering what would you buy, if you had $7000.00 Visa card given to you and you had to spend the whole $7000.00, to spend on many items for hunting, but this Visa would come with 2 clauses you would have to buy at least 2 two things or more from Coueswhitetail.com store and you have to be able to put it into a back pack, but first you would have to buy a back pack out of the $7000.00. Hunting items would include binoculars, tripod, knifes, spotting scopes, range finders and the list could go on and on. I would like to know brands and why? BASS Report post Posted September 1, 2010 I'd be sure to either buy a Badlands, or Ebblestock pack to get started. Love their equipment and the quality is there for sure. I've sent my Badlands back to the factory twice in the past five or six years to have minor repair work done (small tears, cut straps etc all my fault from tossing packs off drops) and they've fixed it and shipped it back qucikly. For binos, I like a 10x42 pair of glass for normal use. With that bank roll I'd probably buy Swarovski or comparable glass for eye fatigue. Range finders, probably go with Swarovski on that too since I've been looking at one for a couple years now, the farthest I could get my hands on. Spotting scope, something light and compact with high quality glass for light gathering, and super light tripod, that set-up would be lower on my list though. Knives, I lose quite a few it seems like so nothing expensive there, but a handful for sure. Maybe something like the Of course, there would also be the urge to just buy a .50bmg, a nice Night Force scope, a set of old ALICE backpack straps to strap to the rifle (instant backpack!) a glassing chair and a hat from the store. Hike to the tallest mountain knowing the entire unit is fair game for your shot.
youngbuck Report post Posted September 2, 2010 I can deal with any o the top glass. Swaro leica zeiss or kaibabs, even zenrays. My eberle stock gunslinger is indespensible, so is my havalon knife, in bright orange so i don't loose any more. Good comfortable boots are a must. I got a new pair of lowas i really like. 700rc2 head or outdoorsman pan head. A good compact digital camera and my rino gps. There are a lot o good tripod legs out there. A good jacket, i likes cabels wind stopper wool, and my under armour fleece beenie.
BASS Report post Posted September 2, 2010 Maybe I should start buying blaze orange knives too. I once bought a nice Benchmade Griptillion to wear when I went out scouting. I had to have an green one, loved the color and the knife for the entire week I had it. It now lives up in 6A somewhere never to be seen by me again!

BASS Report post Posted September 2, 2010 Are you guys running the LED heads in your surefires? I mean I love my surefires to death and carry one every day, my shotgun has one as does my AR15, but an hour and a half and it's toast! My 6PD with the Malkoff Device head is a mini spot light! CouesWhitetail Report post Posted September 2, 2010 I have a hard time choosing a backpack, but I would look at Eberlestock and see which model appeals to you. A great source for information and those packs would be sponsor Eric Santana of Payson Outfitters. He knows these packs and can really help you out when choosing one. And he gives a discount to members of CouesWhitetail.com! http://www.paysonoutfitters.com/servlet/StoreFront Another of our sponors is Outdoorsmans and they have a great selection of tripods and adapters and such and so I would check out their store too. They also have very knowledgeable staff that can help you pick out gear. http://www.outdoorsmans.com/ I would also take some Wilderness Athlete products. I love those...great energy for fueling up during a hunt. Contact Outdoorsmans about that. Surely you can find more than 2 items you want from the CW.com store. Here are a few I suggest: A slik sprint pro (or even smaller, the slik sprint mini) and the Jim White Tripod head would be a lightweight setup for glassing. I really enjoy my JW head on my backpack hunts. http://www.coueswhitetail.com/bookstore/tr...ripod_heads.htm Of course you may need an adapter for whichever binos you get (I take my swaro 15s on my backpack hunts). The Swaro bino adapter made by Jim White is a very good one and is also available at the CW.com store: http://www.coueswhitetail.com/bookstore/adaptors.htm I would definitely take a Havalon knife and extra blades. I prefer the Orange Piranta Edge. Just be careful when you use this knife...it's beyond sharp!! And you don't to cut off a finger in the outback! http://www.coueswhitetail.com/bookstore/havalon_knives.htm I would have recommended getting one of those Ultimate Gamebags by our own Elkaholic but he just ran out and won't be making them anymore.....bummer. The Eyeshield is handy to keep the sun out of the sides of your eyes while glassing: http://www.coueswhitetail.com/bookstore/eye_shield.htm A glassing chair or seat pad makes glassing more comfortable: http://www.coueswhitetail.com/bookstore/gl...air_and_pad.htm Binocular pack to protect the binos: http://www.coueswhitetail.com/bookstore/binocular_pouch.htm Of course CW.com tshirts and Hats would help you on your hunt too! http://www.coueswhitetail.com/bookstore/tshirts.htm http://www.coueswhitetail.com/bookstore/hats/hats.htm
ajohunter Report post Posted September 2, 2010 You cant go wrong with any of the Outdoorsmans/Western Hunter products! AntlerObsession Report post Posted September 3, 2010 Of course, there would also be the urge to just buy a .50bmg, a nice Night Force scope, a set of old ALICE backpack straps to strap to the rifle (instant backpack!) a glassing chair and a hat from the store. Hike to the tallest mountain knowing the entire unit is fair game for your shot. It's amazing how many accessories are made obsolete by a good gun with a good scope. With that and a decent set of binos, you're pretty set up. Those are the first 3 things is get with the money. All the other things you should budget with the remaining amount. My $.02. I could have my own pack team, photo team, and field dressing team! I want to change my vote now!
Red Rabbit Report post Posted September 3, 2010 For a pack, I would try the Kifaru G2 Longhunter and also a smaller one like the Siwash with cargo chair. I would get a lightweight carbon fiber tripod from Gitzo, a Jim White head and bino eyeguards from Amanda, Leica 1600 rangefinder from CameraLand, Kowa TSN 77 Prominar spotter. For a knife, a 3.5" drop point with D2 blade, spalted maple scales, and mosaic pins. Might even be enough $ left to put a SCA coues tag in the pack's pocket. Just upgrading some equipment with some top of line stuff and not trying to fully outfit myself.
