yes a gsp would be better but there is an outfitt in coolage that works phesant

Labs will do the job just as well as a german pointer... My friend has had and still has many labs as bird dogs. There are website and dvds to teach your dog to be the best pheasant dog. I know bass pro sells a DVD for dog training.
