More D Report post Posted September 26, 2005 I just wanted to give a big thanks to a couple of guys I ran into on Sat Sept 17 the second day of AZ Elk bow hunt in 6A-south. I was there to help my hunting partner/cousin with his cow archery tag. I went to the truck to use the cell phone to call home. To get any signal you have to drive up and down the paved road(FH-3 near the power lines, if you need it) and quickly pull over when the cell shows any signal. I finally found it and was calling home to the boss, I meant wife . Two guys in head to toe camo in new Chevy Colorado white reg cab work truck flipped a U and came to ask me if I was broken down. I guess they saw my sorry tired a$$ standing next to the truck using the phone and felt sorry for me! They BOTH had bows and still took time out of the hunting day to try and help me!!! I explained that I was only using the phone and thanks anyways. Made me feel proud that these two bowhunters were willing to stop and help! THANK YOU GUYS !!! az4life Report post Posted September 26, 2005 MoreD Good news is always appreciated on this site! I think hunters and fishermen as general rule will help more often than not if they see a situation that suggests a need. Be t car trouble, tent trouble or even finding game, we often will help whenever the need arises.
BASS Report post Posted September 26, 2005 heh, at first I thought you might have been one of the guys I helped out in 6a! The guys I helped blew a tire out on a rough road, and hiked back to our camp to see if we had any fix a flat. We did, and I gave them a ride back to their camp to get their spare, then back out to their truck to fix the tire. Really a nice couple of guys. I also picked up a hunter (two different ones) and gave them a ride to their trucks down the road. If I see a hunter in need, I'll help out if I can. But on the same day (Sunday) I blew a tire out too on the dirt road to Apache Maid, and had to send the other truck back into Flag to fix it. We sat there for over three hours AND NOT ONE truck stopped to see if we needed help.

BASS Report post Posted September 27, 2005 Hey Bass,If would have seen you we would have stopped and gave you a hand. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I was thinking of ordering one of the CouesWhitetail.com stickers for the front of my truck, just so you all know who I am! I think the problem was I wasn't in my camo any more. I wasn't hunting, just scouting, and I had all the clothes a "weekend warrior" camper would wear. It's all good. Same with a blown tire, most people will say no thanks, but atleast I offered.
More D Report post Posted September 27, 2005 Hey Bass Was that bad road 229 from FH-3 to Apache maid? That had to be one of the the worst "roads" I have taken, although it was during a Nov Muzz hunt with 10-12 inches of snow on the ground. I even took that same road during a Sept camping trip and I could not tell I was on it. Thats how different it was! I bet you guys have been down worst. isn't 6A famos for it's bad roads? firstcoueswas80 Report post Posted September 27, 2005 my dad, grandpa and i ran in to this guy elk hunting in unit 1 about 7 or8 years ago. man we felt for poor guy. he looked like he had hiked about 15 miles that day he was exhausted. he told us how he had wounded a spike the night before and had been looking for it all day ( it was around 12 or 1) and we could honestyly tell he had tried his best to find it. we gave him some warm burros and some water and dropped him off at his truck. on another note, Scottyboy and i got lost and came out on a road just intime to catch a suburban. this "hunter" zoomed bye us with out everng acknowliding our waves! I was thinking of taking my US Army jeep up there next time just to get around. Just a heads up to anyone up there, US ARMY jeep 51946 is a little rough, and the brakes don't always work!
