smitty Report post Posted August 23, 2010 My buddy mark shot his first coues opening morning 37 yards, shooting PSE and a 2'' rage went less than 150 yards. The following day i shot my first coues from the same tank at 27 yards, my shot was a little off the mark as buck fever had set in and i ended up with a gut shot. we gave him a few hours and then bumped him from his bed ended. we went up this morning with a few friends and some horses and couldnt find a thing after the rain from the night before. Then at 5p.m. we went back and ended up finding him from the buzzards. unfortunatly we lost all the meat but im still super happy with my first deer.

CouesWhitetail Report post Posted August 23, 2010 Very sad you lost the meat, but at least you did eventually find your buck. I am sure the buzzards, foxes and other animals appreciated the free meal. Congratulations on a couple nice bucks!

tanclan4 Report post Posted August 24, 2010 Congrats on the 2 deer. Thats the tuff thing about the early hunt here in AZ it turns into a race for the ice chest. Maybe your buddy will share a leg or two.

tjhunt2 Report post Posted August 24, 2010 What a bummer about losing all the meat but good job of sticking it out and recovering your buck. That goes along with archery hunting and it is painful to say the least but you stuck with it. Congratulations on both your bucks and thanks for sharing your story. Some would not have done that and I commend you for it.
