If you are hunting coyots with your shot gun, how many shells or rounds can you have in your shot gun?

I think they changed it a few years back. It use to be 3 was all you could have for anyting you were shotgunning. Now I think its 5.

I know is 3 for doves and 5 for quail, but......for predators, for coyotes, how many can you put in your shot gun?

5, same as quail. You only have to have your plug in for migratory birds and waterfowl I believe. But I know you don't need it for predators.

The reason I asked is because I watched this video today, look carefully....the guy shot 5 rounds at a coyote with his shotgun. That got me thinking....

Looks like that shooter only fired 3 rounds, someone else was also shooting. You can hear him rack the shotgun 3 times but there is not a boom after the last one.

Maybe I should say "look and listen" carefully! I know there is two guys shooting but the guy next to the camera makes 5 shots.

 

I guess I will keep using 3 rounds just to be safe

the only time you need a plug is for migratory. you can have 5 for predators. i know lots of the guys at APC use 5 shells

It's in the regs on page 118 under legal methods of take. No 2-shot magazine capacity for furbearing/predator species. Only for migratory birds. Load up 5+1 and whack 'em.
