Leica Customer Service

Recommended Posts

I just wanted to let everyone here know my recent experience with Leica's customer service department.

I've had a CRF 1200 rangefinder for about 3 years now. About a year ago, I noticed that there was some discoloration under the ocular lense. It didn't effect the operation of the rangefinder or even seem to degrade the clarity of the glass. It just bothered me that it was there. It almost looked like mold was growing inside.

About a week and a half ago I packed it up and sent it to the Leica service department with a note explianing the problem. I didn't speak with anyone, just sent it in per the instructions on their website. Today UPS delivered a brand new CRF1200. On the invoice it says "No Charge Courtesy Account".

Just wanted to share my experience. Their optics are pricey but with this kind of service it may be well worth it!

Jeff

Awesome deal you got there partner! The old addage "you get what you pay for" does sometimes mean just that I suppose! Glad to hear a fellow hunter was treated right by one of our vendors in the hunting world as only the LORD knows we sure enough spend a ton of dinero on trinkets and this and that!

That's great to hear. I also have a LRF1200 and if I remember correctly they only have a 2 year warranty, but I have heard that in the past few years Leica has gotten much better about fixing things no questions asked. I have other Leica optics that are also out of the formal warranty period so it is great to hear how they treated you.

Thanks for the post. I also have the 1200 and love it. Hopefully they continue with the great customer service. I'm not going to mention any names but your experience is the exact opposite of what I got from a cheaper more popular brand of range finder. They offered to sell me another RF for what I could buy them at cabela's for...some customer service. I said no thanks, I'm going to put my money into something else where they may back up their product.

Another positive experience: 2 Weeks ago, I was using my Leica Binocular Tripod Adapter when the rubber strap broke. I contacted Leica Customer Service via e-mail and explained what happened. The same day, I received an e-mail back stating a replacement was on its way to me. FREE OF CHARGE! I received the replacement approximately 3 days later. That's what I am talking about.
