JBONE777 Report post Posted September 20, 2005 LAST YEAR I SAW A HUGE BUCK IN EARLY DECEMBER. THIS WAS THE ONLY TIME THAT I SAW IT. I WAS WONDERING IF YOU GUYS THINK IT IS ALWAYS CLOSE TO THIS SAME AREA, OR DO BUCKS MOVE TO DIFFERENT AREAS DURING THE RUT, AND RETURN BACK AFTER IT IS OVER. IF SO, HOW FAR DO THEY TRAVEL, AND WHERE MIGHT THEY GO. HIGHER, LOWER ETC. WOULD IT BE POSSIBLE TO FIND THE DEERS SHEDS IN THIS AREA? ANY OPINIONS OR SHARED KNOWLEDGE WOULD BE APPRECIATED. coueshunter Report post Posted September 21, 2005 To answer the question, a buck will travel long and hard during the rut while other times of the year he will stay in/around his home area. There could be alot of answers to this issue of how big his home range is but as to finding his sheds in and around where you saw him in december would more than likely be just luck. He probably traveled quite a ways rutting........Allen.....
