Mr. Natural Report post Posted April 15, 2016 Savage 111 LRH in 7mm RM, Leupold 4.5 - 14 x 40 scope. I am currently shooting factory ammo (Fed. Prem. 140 gr NP which are shooting quite well) because I have not had the rifle long. Since I didn't get an elk tag this year I have a year and a half to work up loads for Berger 168 gr. HVLD's.
lancetkenyon Report post Posted April 15, 2016 Looks like we will be getting to use my late father-in-law's rifle on a couple elk hunts this year. I am sure he will be smiling down on us while we are out in the woods with his granddaughter's packing it around the elk woods this year. It wears a different optic now.

bgshooter Report post Posted November 23, 2016 When I do go elk hunting, I will be bringing my Savage Axis .308. Still testing which factory ammo it likes. So far I've gotten good results with 150gr Core-Lokt. Ok results from 180gr Core-Lokt. Got some Federals 180gr but have yet to try them. Soon I hope.

jfowler99 Report post Posted March 6, 2017 I'm currently shooting a Savage Axis in 30-06. I changed to a full weaver rail scope mount. I use leupold rings mounting an Atholon Neos 4-12×40 bdc illuminated reticle. I also upgraded the trigger to a rifle basix sav-1 changing the trigger pull to 2.5 pounds. I'll be shooting either 30-06 core lokt 165 gr8 or Winchester xxx 165 gr. still need to shoot some more to determine which shoot better out of my gun. it's fairly new. no pictures at the moment. i was shooting a 270 Rossi single shot update. Installed the trigger this evening. had just under 3 pound pull, no over travel and slight travel in the sear just to make sure it's safe. I know it's an entry level rifle but its turning out very nice.
