Hoss50 Report post Posted October 26, 2015 I am working reviving a Kimber 6.5x55 sporterized mauser right now for my backup rifle. I picked up a new Redfield scope today and some Leupold rings. I also picked up some Hornady SSTs to run through it. This will probably also be my son's first deer rifle so I wanted to start working up the accuracy and quality of the rifle and working up a load. He is only 3.5 yrs old so I hope I have enough time to get it dialed in.... Harley

Jazz Report post Posted April 12, 2016 Well, I think it's time to upgrade. I was lucky on the Elk Draw, and now I'm planning my first ever Elk hunt. I'm going to be using a 7400 Remington 30-06, and I need to get a scope for it. I'd like it to be at least able to hit 500 yards. Im thinking of a Viper BDC system- something under a grand that's reliable and has a great warranty. I have no experience with Vipers but I hear great things. Anyone use a Viper BDC on a '06?

Hoss50 Report post Posted April 14, 2016 Last year my .257 weatherby served me well and may still get the nod to go on the hunt this year, but I am going to start load development on a new rifle too. I am going to get my dad's first rifle, a Ruger M77 in 7mm Rem Mag, to hopefully make it this years elk killer. I picked up some 168gr. Berger HVLD's that I am going to load up and hopefully get to shoot well. It would be nice to put an elk down with Dad's rifle. He only ever put a couple deer down with this one.
