cramerhunts Report post Posted September 20, 2005 Beautiful Bull! Congratulations! You should be very proud and he will make a great mount. I think you will like the results of putting a tape on him for a gross score. I am going to say 378 5/8. Let us know and thanks again for the pics. donniedent Report post Posted September 20, 2005 Excellent Bull!!!!! He'll deffinatly make the mid 370's. His fronts are great, the sword on the 6 point side is great and his main beams gotta be close to 50 inches plus the extra point on the other side. I'll bet he goes 374 5/8". Big congratulations man!!! Donnie
azhuntnut Report post Posted September 20, 2005 The verdict is in. The unofficial score came out to 370 1/2. His main beams were over 52 inches. He had about 4 1/2 inches broke off of his right G-2 and about 4 inches on his right G-4. I looked like he broke them off over a month ago or more. Its going to be hard for me to beat this one. I can't even explain how happy I am right now. I will wait the 60 day drying period and have Pope and Young put a score on him for the books. Thanks for all of the congrats, it really makes a fella feel good. Now if I could just draw a coues tag. David
BASS Report post Posted September 20, 2005 370 1/2!?! WOW Are you going to have the taxidermist try and rebuild the broken tines? What is the normal shrinkage after the 60 days?
azhuntnut Report post Posted September 20, 2005 370 1/2!?! WOW Are you going to have the taxidermist try and rebuild the broken tines? What is the normal shrinkage after the 60 days? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> We talked about that last night and decided he earned those battle scars so he should keep them. I don't know what the shrikage will be, but that doesn't matter to me. When I started this hunt I wanted to shoot a bull bigger than 350 and I have met that goal and then some. BASS Report post Posted September 20, 2005 That's what I was going to say about the broken tines. One of the guys that our company does work for also shot a large bull (353 1/4 I think) but when he found him he noticed that he had some broken points. To say the least he was mad he shot a "broken elk." Some people just will never be happy.

Great job! very nice bull no matter what he scores.I am hoping for a world record cow in 5a this weekend.the past few days there have been weird for elk activity, going nuts one day and not see anything the next day cant figure it out gona give it heck this weekend. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hey, chase one of those trophy cows across the border into 5B! I've passed up a few so far, looking for that book grade skinhead! We're actually seeing gradual improvement. Friday was absolutely dead - nothing. I could have been in a closet and heard more. Saturday was better. Then a good temp drop Sat eve got things moving a little better. Not too much to complain about since, except that I'm not hunting until this weekend... Poke a tender one! --Chris

billrquimby Report post Posted September 21, 2005 That bull definately scores 10 out of 10! Good job man!! Bret M. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Bret: How about posting a photo of your 2005 bull? I couldn't get to your grandfather's home to see it before you took the rack away, but he says it was a "big and heavy typical Unit 1 bull." Bill
El Fuego Report post Posted October 6, 2005 Dave, Can I get a little credit for taking you into a very productive area of your drawn WM unit, along with actually getting you on this bull pre-season? Todd
BowhuntCoues Report post Posted October 6, 2005 Congrads on the bull. Did you ever figure out if the photo you took of the live bull was the same one?
COOSEFAN Report post Posted October 6, 2005 Hey David, I was at Bret's house and I was the lucky person to first score your bull. After talking to you at the seminar I knew you were dedicated enough to accomplish what you've done, didn't surprise me! You did an awesome job on your own and tagged an incredible bull. My favorite is his G1's and have yet to put my hands on another bull with any as big as yours. Great job and Great bull David, talk to ya soon. Jimmy M.
